Reborn to Shine My Ex-Boyfriend Regretted It When I Became the Valedictorian Chapter 10

Days passed. I got my acceptance letter from Sanford City.

The day it arrived, Hunter came to see me.

“Jules, congratulations.”

“Thanks.”

“I’m sorry…”

“Don’t be.”

Hunter looked at me, sorrowful. “Can we… start over?”

“No.”

“Hunter, thanks for what you did back then. And sorry for being a pain. But you made your choice, so don’t look back. Keep the rest of the money for Kat’s medical bills. Don’t call me again.”

I turned and didn’t look back. I had suffered enough in my previous life.

Behind me, Hunter sobbed. “Jules, I’m sorry. It’s all my fault.”

I never saw him again after that.

Rue and I traveled all vacation.

We took hundreds of photos just for ourselves and made a promise to have a girls’ trip every year.

Day before I left for Sanford City, Kat jumped off a building. She didn’t survive.

Doctors said she’d never walk again. She couldn’t handle it.

I went to the hospital. I saw Hunter.

He said Kat spent her last days muttering, “What do I have that she doesn’t?”

Maybe she’d snapped when she found out I was Randall City’s valedictorian.

That was the last time I saw Hunter.

He stood alone in the sunset, tall and lonely.

“Take care of yourself.” He said.

Sunlight painted the ground. Neither of us turned around.

We each had our own path.

Soon after, my account received one last payment. Then Hunter was gone from my life forever.

From now on, we’re strangers. I hope we never cross paths again.
