Reborn to Shine My Ex-Boyfriend Regretted It When I Became the Valedictorian Chapter 01

When I opened my eyes, sunlight flooded the room.

The bright sound of students reading aloud echoed, like a dream from another life.

My body felt light, with no agony of sickness gnawing at me.

I stared at the familiar scene and confirmed it—I’d been reborn.

The bell rang.

“Jules, let’s go! They’ve got fried chicken in the cafeteria today.”

The shrill bell and Rue’s voice yanked me back to reality.

“Rue, I’m so glad to see you.”

I pulled her into a hug and burst into tears.

“Quit being dramatic! Did you read too much fanfic in class or something? Hurry up before the food’s gone!”

Rue tugged me toward the door.

“Wait!”

A familiar voice froze me in my tracks.

“Jules, Kat’s not feeling well. Grab her a meal, nothing too greasy.”

I turned. Hunter was patting Kat’s back, fawning over her while barking orders at me.

A wave of hatred crashed over me.

When I didn’t move, Hunter snapped. “Are you deaf?”

“It’s okay, I’ll go myself in a minute.” Kat said weakly.

“Don’t push yourself. Let her get it for you.”

Hunter shot me an impatient glare. “Well? Move!”

“Fine… thanks, Jules.” She coughed.

I watched them get cozy and sneered. “Just wait and see.”

In this life, Hunter, I’ll make you taste real pain.

The cafeteria smelled of warm food.

In my previous life, Hunter stole all my money just to spoil Kat.

I ended up digging scraps out of trash cans to eat.

I stared at the overflowing counters and ordered three plates of food.

“You’re really getting food for them?” Rue said, frustrated.

“I’m eating it. I haven’t had a full meal in so long. I’m starving.”

I devoured three plates of food. Rue gaped. “Jules, you’re acting like a totally different person today.”

“Rue, celebrate with me! I finally woke up.”

Back in the classroom, Hunter was still waiting for me to bring Kat’s food.

When I showed up late and emptyhanded, he blew up.

“Where’s the food? You knew she wasn’t feeling well, yet you show up late!”

I smiled coldly and met his furious eyes. “Is she missing arms and legs, or dead?”

Hunter flinched, staring at me in disbelief. “Jules, don’t talk to me like that. You’re asking for it.”

I walked straight to my seat and sat down.

Hunter cursed viciously and ran out.

“Jules, it’s my fault. I hate that I got sick. Just don’t be mad at Hunter, okay?”

Kat’s soft, sniffling voice came from behind me.

Students clustered around to comfort her.

“Jules, you’re so mean. Kat’s sick and you’re being cruel.”

“Yeah, we should help each other as classmates.”

“Don’t cry, Kat. Don’t waste your time on a slacker.”

Tch. Typical followers.

“You’re all so nice? Then you guys look after Miss Perfect from now on. Stop putting it all on me.”

At my words, a sharp glint flashed in Kat’s eyes. She started crying harder.

Hunter rushed back with a bowl of porridge, breathless. When he saw Kat in tears, he snarled my name like he hated me. “Jules!”

The bell rang.

Class started. Everyone sat down.

My phone lit up. A text from Hunter.

[Don’t you dare come begging for my forgiveness.]
