Pregnant, Panicked, and Chased by My CEO Husband Chapter 09

Pregnant, Panicked, and Chased by My CEO Husband Chapter 09

Completely confused, I did as she said.

Her frown deepened.

She even called the nurse in to ask about the equipment.

“Are you feeling any discomfort?” she asked me.

I shook my head.

It had only been a few days since the pregnancy test came back positive, and I felt no different from usual.

She bit her lip, thoughtful.

“Some of your numbers would mean a normal person should not even be alive.”

Then she said, “This is bizarre. Forget the numbers for a second. Just look at these two results. They were taken barely more than an hour apart.”

She held one report in each hand and compared them.

“One says you’re pregnant. The other says you’re not.”

She looked at me seriously. “Marina, you weren’t serious about what you said before, were you?”

A year ago, I had told Georgia that Finn was not human. But he hid it so well that I could never find proof.

Under Georgia’s worried gaze, I nodded.

“I wasn’t joking. You saw today’s test results. Because of him, I’m not normal anymore either.”

She stood, worry written across her face.

She did not look all that shocked, though. Her family’s core business was media, so she had grown up seeing plenty of strange and sensational stories.

“Then what do we do? I’ve never dealt with a nonhuman before.”

I gave her a reassuring look.

“I should be able to find someone.”

Before I left, Georgia had me run the test two more times.

Both came back negative.

“Either I ate something I shouldn’t have, or supernatural beings reproduce differently.”

I thought of the hamster I had owned before.

It suddenly got sick and stopped eating.

Finn had seemed to sniff it once before saying, “She’s pregnant. That’s why her appetite is off.”

Maybe this really was just a misdiagnosis. Otherwise, Finn should have been able to smell that I was pregnant.

“I’m going. I need to make a call downstairs.”

The person I contacted was Uncle Gideon Sullivan, who was always traveling and impossible to pin down.

My family had been in the funeral-effigy and memorial craft business for generations, but every few generations, someone also dabbled in folk magic, occult work, or exorcism.

Originally, I had wanted to ask my Great-Uncle, but he suddenly claimed he was sick and recommended this distant uncle, Gideon Sullivan, instead.
