Pregnant, Panicked, and Chased by My CEO Husband Chapter 01

Pregnant, Panicked, and Chased by My CEO Husband Chapter 01

By the third year of my mission to win him over, I was pregnant.

Then the System told me it had gotten the Female Lead wrong.

I was so grateful I could have cried. I packed up and bolted that same night.

Ten minutes later, my CEO husband, who was supposed to be in England, appeared in our bedroom.

He looked wounded, his lips pressed into a thin line. “If your reason for divorce is that I was too rough, I can fix that.”

“I’ll be gentle from now on, okay?”

When I saw the unnatural color in his eyes, I burst into tears. “I’ve been terrified of snakes since I was little.”

Three years into my marriage to Finn Calloway, the System, which had been gone so long I had almost forgotten about it, suddenly popped back up.

“Sorry, Host! I just realized you’re not the Female Lead!”

I had a class to teach, so I was in the middle of dabbing concealer over the red and pink marks all over my body.

At its words, I scrambled upright.

“Are you serious?”

The System sounded painfully apologetic.

“Yes. It was my mistake. I got it wrong. You’re actually just a pretty background extra. Finn has already met the real Female Lead.”

I dropped to my knees and thanked it ten times over, like it had just saved me from death row.

It burst into loud sobs.

“Oh no, this is bad. I really messed up. The Host has lost her mind!”

I stopped it, rushed to the closet, and dug out the divorce papers I had drafted ages ago.

For the love of all that is holy.

I knew it. My family had spent generations making memorial effigies for funerals. How the hell would someone like me ever get tangled up with the crown prince of New York old money?

On our wedding day, I had been in a complete daze.

He, meanwhile, had smiled with his eyes full of warmth, acting as if he were deeply in love.

Only recently did I learn that he wasn’t human.

He had been keeping me as prey.

Back when I was a sophomore in college, the System told me I was the Female Lead.

I said, “Sure, and I’m the Queen of Sheba.”

It pointed at Finn, who had just shown up at our university as a guest speaker for a finance lecture.

“That’s the Male Lead. Think about it.”

He was effortlessly elegant and devastatingly handsome.

Guys and girls alike crowded around him with their phones raised, trying to take pictures.

The lecture hall was packed wall to wall.

I swallowed. “I guess I could settle.”

Inside, I was practically exploding with joy.

My guardian angels must have been working overtime to land me a match that good.

Back then, I thought my Female Lead halo was working. Winning Finn over went so smoothly it almost felt like a romance scam.

But he was wildly generous with me, and his love did not seem fake.

We got married without a hitch.

Other than being a little aloof and possessive as hell, he basically had no flaws.

He was physically incredible, and he spoiled me rotten.

I thought that was love.

Until a year ago, when I realized I was his prey.

He drank my blood.

Holy shit.
