Pregnant, Panicked, and Chased by My CEO Husband Chapter 02

Pregnant, Panicked, and Chased by My CEO Husband Chapter 02

Last Christmas Eve, he had business to handle, so I went home for Christmas by myself.

My parents hated that I was interrupting their alone time and told me to go back and keep Finn company.

Before I left, Mom packed me a ridiculous amount of food.

“Make sure Finn eats plenty. There’s more at home.”

I planted my hands on my hips at the door.

“Mom, what about me? What about me?”

Dad cut in, “Don’t even start. Finn always lets you have the first and best bite of everything, and he has fed you so well you’ve gone up a whole size. This time, let him have some.”

I pouted, dragged my suitcase along, and headed home in a huff.

That night, when I came out of the airport, the moon was clearly a crescent.

By the time I reached the estate, it had somehow become full.

The air felt sharp and hostile, and the whole place was eerily still.

There was also a woman’s voice coming from inside.

I slipped around to the back entrance.

Finn was standing under the garden pergola, talking to a woman whose back was turned to me.

The very first thing she said hit me like a punch.

The woman said, “You only take that tiny sip of blood each time. What are you, a little bee sampling nectar?”

Finn replied, “If I go too deep, she’ll get suspicious.”

At those words, my wrist suddenly began to ache.

I lifted my hand into the moonlight. The two tiny red punctures on my wrist looked glaringly bright.

There were matching red dots on my neck, too.

I thought back to those nights when, in the heat of it, he liked to bite the most vulnerable places on my body.

I had always thought it was his little habit, something intimate between us.

The woman laughed. “I prefer draining my prey dry and swallowing them whole. Feeding on her alone must be boring. Next time, I’ll bring you a few people so you can really feast.”

I crouched in the shadows, grimacing, and vaguely saw the woman’s long hair writhing.

When I looked closer, I realized it looked like snakes.

She pulled one down and toyed with it in her hand.

“Finn, don’t forget to pick up the package.”

She placed her hand on his chest, sliding like a water snake, then snapped forward and grabbed Finn’s tie.

“Keep your form under control. Don’t let anyone find out.”

I stood there pinching myself hard, tears welling in my eyes.

My heart was pounding out of my chest because I had just watched that woman turn into a massive white python and slither away.
