My Classmate Bragged About Her Dad’s Yacht, Unaware My Mom Paid for It Chapter 06

Gregory’s face went deathly pale, and he stumbled back two steps.

“H-How do you know about the accounts?”

He had always thought he had covered his tracks perfectly.

Before this, Mom had not kept him on too tight a leash because she wanted to preserve the appearance of harmony in the family.

So he had used his position to slowly transfer assets, trying to build his own business empire.

But who was my mother?

Lana was a battle-tested corporate powerhouse. How could she truly be fooled by a kept husband who depended on her?

She had already found everything out. She had only been waiting for the right moment to spring the trap.

I turned to Mr. Carter, who was standing nearby.

“Mr. Carter, please educate these people who clearly don’t know what real money looks like. Tell them who actually owns this yacht.”

Mr. Carter gave a slight bow, took a document from inside his jacket, and unfolded it for everyone to see.

“Ladies and gentlemen, this yacht, the Ocean Star, was paid for in full and registered under Ms. Lana Shaw’s name.”

“Ms. Shaw is Miss Chloe Shaw’s mother.”

“Mr. Lynn merely handled part of the paperwork as an agent.”

“He has no right to use this yacht, and he has no ownership of it whatsoever.”

Dead silence fell over the entire deck.

Ryan and the other boys went pale, then flushed with embarrassment.

Just moments ago, they had been mocking me as a broke nobody. Now, in the blink of an eye, I had become the actual heiress with control over this yacht.

And Jasmine, the girl they had spent all this time trying to flatter, turned out to be an illegitimate daughter kept hidden from the world.

Jasmine sat on the deck with her hair in disarray, completely unable to accept reality.

“You’re lying. You’re all ganging up to lie to me.”

“Dad, tell them this isn’t true. You’re supposed to be the big boss.”

Gregory gritted his teeth, still making one last attempt to salvage the situation.

“Chloe, do you really have to make this so ugly today?”

“I raised you all these years. I may not deserve all the credit, but I put in years of work.”

“So what if this yacht belongs to your mother? What’s wrong with me borrowing it?”

“I’ll pay for the wine. I’ll compensate your mother for it.”

There was a hard edge in his voice now, the kind that came from someone with nothing left to lose.

He seemed to think that as long as things did not completely fall apart, he could still go home and keep up the act with my mother.

I ignored him and walked straight over to Ryan. Then I snatched the phone out of his hand.

Ryan shrank back in fear and did not dare resist at all.

I quickly dialed my mother’s number and put the call on speaker.

The phone rang only once before she picked up.

“Chloe? Why are you calling me from someone else’s number?”

My mother’s cool, efficient voice rang out across the deck.

“Mom, Jasmine smashed my phone.”

“I’m on the yacht you just bought.”

“Gregory is here too. He brought his secret daughter and my whole class out for a yacht party.”

“Oh, and that bottle of wine you bought at auction for almost half a million dollars was ruined by Jasmine too.”

The other end of the line was silent for two seconds.

Then came a low, humorless laugh.

“Good. Very good.”

“Gregory has gotten bold.”

“Chloe, give the phone to Mr. Carter.”

I handed the phone to Mr. Carter.

He accepted it with both hands, his manner extremely respectful.

“Ms. Shaw, what are your orders?”

“Lock down every system on the yacht immediately. Cut off all external communications and return to the marina at full speed.”

“If anyone tries to cause trouble, restrain them on the spot.”

My mother’s voice was ice-cold, without a trace of mercy.

Gregory panicked completely and lunged forward, trying to grab the phone.

“Lana! Lana, listen to me. This is all a misunderstanding.”

“I only brought a few kids out so they could experience something they normally never would.”

“Jasmine is young and didn’t know better. She accidentally knocked over the wine, and I’ll pay for it.”

Mr. Carter kicked him down onto the deck.

The few crew members who had been standing near the lower-deck entrance suddenly took off their jackets, revealing black security uniforms underneath.

With trained precision, they rushed onto the deck and pinned Gregory and several boys who tried to resist firmly to the deck.

Everyone on this yacht worked for my mother.
