My Classmate Bragged About Her Dad’s Yacht, Unaware My Mom Paid for It Chapter 01

The SATs had just ended when Jasmine Lynn, the textbook pick-me in our class who flattered every guy and tore down every girl, suddenly sent a voice message to the class group chat.

“I’m taking the whole class out on a private yacht this weekend. The guys all get VIP treatment. Girls can come too, but they’ll have to deal with staying below deck.”

I was still wondering how she had suddenly gotten money when she usually had to borrow cash just to buy a Starbucks latte.

The next second, she dropped a photo of a private yacht into the group chat.

“My dad felt bad that I worked so hard for the SATs, so he bought this for me. Everything tonight is on me!”

I stared at the photo and scoffed. Wasn’t that the private yacht Mom had paid for in full two days ago, then handed over to my father, the man who had married into her family and lived off her, to finish the paperwork?

On the day of the yacht party, Jasmine was surrounded by our classmates as she walked toward the luxurious three-deck yacht docked at the marina.

She even bragged that every guy would have a pretty girl assigned to entertain him.

Just as all the boys were cheering for her, the butler, stone-faced, took out a fingerprint scanner.

“Hello. Before departure, we need to verify the owner’s master-access fingerprint. Please place your finger here.”

Jasmine’s smile froze instantly.

“Fingerprint? My dad didn’t tell me anything about a fingerprint.”

Silence fell around us.

Mr. Carter, the butler, stood in his tailcoat with his hands folded in front of him and did not even look up.

“I’m sorry, Ms. Lynn.”

“Without the registered fingerprint, the owner’s main cabin cannot be unlocked. Everyone will only be able to use the deck and the lower level.”

Jasmine’s expression darkened.

The boys who had just been fawning over her exchanged awkward looks.

Ryan Brooks, the captain of the varsity team, scratched his head and let out a dry laugh.

“Jasmine, did your dad maybe forget?”

A hint of doubt crept into the boys’ voices.

“Didn’t you say all the guys were getting VIP treatment? What are we supposed to do if we can’t even get in?”

What Jasmine hated most was being questioned, especially by boys.

She gritted her teeth and forced a strained smile.

“My dad is always busy with business. He handles projects worth tens of millions, so he must have told one of his people to take care of the paperwork, and those idiots forgot to add my fingerprint.”

As she spoke, she pulled out her phone.

“Just wait. I’ll call my dad right now and have him unlock the system for me.”

I stood at the very edge of the crowd with my arms crossed, watching her perform.

Jasmine dialed the number and deliberately put the call on speaker.

“Hi, Daddy.”

A man’s voice came through the phone.

“Jasmine? Why are you calling now? Having fun out on the water?”

The moment I heard that voice, I froze.

It was my father, Gregory Lynn—the same kept husband who barely dared to breathe too loudly at home and got up early and stayed up late to prepare Mom’s collagen tonics.

How could he be Jasmine’s father?

No wonder.

No wonder Jasmine usually could not afford designer brands, yet somehow managed to show up with limited-edition pieces every now and then.

No wonder she was a Lynn, and so was my father.

So the man my mother had been supporting all these years was not only a kept husband. He was also an ungrateful traitor who bit the hand that fed him.
