My Classmate Bragged About Her Dad’s Yacht, Unaware My Mom Paid for It Chapter 04

The corkscrew flew past my ear and struck the metal railing with a sharp clang.

I tilted my head and dodged the flying fragments.

“You’re the one who was stupid, and now you’re blaming the person who tried to warn you?”

I looked at the mess all over the deck, my heart aching.

Mom had gone through so much effort to win that bottle for Grandpa’s eightieth birthday dinner.

Now this illegitimate daughter had destroyed it like it meant nothing.

Panic flashed through Jasmine’s eyes, but it was quickly replaced by viciousness.

She knew exactly how much that bottle was worth. If her dad found out she had ruined it, he would make sure she regretted it.

She had to find someone to pin it on.

“You were the one who bumped into me on purpose just now!”

Jasmine screamed and pointed straight at my nose.

“Everyone saw it! Chloe was jealous of me, so she bumped into me on purpose. That’s why the cork broke.”

Ryan was the first to jump in.

“Yeah! I saw it. Chloe bumped into her.”

The other boys quickly joined in to dodge responsibility.

“That’s right. We’ll all testify. Chloe did it.”

“That bottle was worth almost half a million dollars, Chloe. Can you even afford to pay for it?”

A lie repeated often enough seemed to become the truth.

With people backing her up, Jasmine’s confidence instantly returned.

She planted her hands on her hips and strutted up to me with her chin raised.

“Chloe, this bottle is worth almost half a million dollars.”

“Since we’re classmates, I won’t make things too hard for you.”

“Get on your knees and beg me three times. Then write me an IOU for half a million dollars.”

“Otherwise, once this yacht docks, I’ll call the police and have you arrested.”

The second she finished speaking, several boys crowded closer, quietly cutting off my way out.

The sea wind whipped hard at the hem of my dress.

I looked at the shameless way they twisted the truth without a trace of guilt, and suddenly found the whole thing pathetic.

“You want me to kneel? Who do you think you are?”

I took out my phone and called my mother directly.

“You want to call the police? There’s no need to wait until we dock. I’ll call them right now.”

The moment Jasmine saw what I was doing, she snatched my phone and smashed it hard onto the deck.

The screen shattered instantly.

Under the blazing sun, my wound and shoulder throbbed with pain. They pinned me down on the deck so tightly that I could not move, and I was almost too drained to fight back.

Jasmine sneered and dialed a number.

“Dad! Someone’s bullying me on the yacht. Bring people here right now!”

After hanging up, Jasmine grabbed my hair and forced me to lift my head as she sneered down at me.

“If you don’t write that IOU today, you’re not getting off this yacht. Once my dad gets here, I’ll make sure you regret ever crossing me.”

I almost laughed.

Fine. I wanted to see exactly how she planned to make me regret ever crossing her.

After a long standoff, a middle-aged man in a loud floral shirt and sunglasses climbed up the gangway.

“Jasmine! Daddy brought people with him. Let me see who dares bully my daughter today.”

Gregory took off his sunglasses.

The moment Jasmine saw him, she rushed into his arms without hesitation.

“Dad! You’re finally here!”

“Someone bullied me! She even ruined that expensive bottle of wine you had.”

Gregory’s expression changed sharply.

“What? That bottle was ruined?”

He pushed Jasmine aside and rushed to the cooler in a few quick steps.

When he saw the bits of cork floating in the wine, his expression visibly darkened.

He had stolen that bottle.

If Lana Shaw found out, he could forget about ever remaining part of the Shaw family.

“Who did this? Who the hell did this?”

Gregory flew into a rage, spit flying as he shouted.

Jasmine turned and pointed at me viciously.

“She did! Chloe!”

Gregory whipped his head around and followed the direction of Jasmine’s finger.

When he saw my face clearly, he was completely stunned and froze on the spot.

“Ch-Chloe?”
