I Waited For My Mother’s Blessings, Only To Find She Gave All Her Luck To My Sister Chapter 05

That day, Mom wept tears of joy at Charlee’s wedding.

Unable to bear parting with Charlee, and wanting only the best for her future, she used her wedding speech to shower Darrell’s family with fortunes of wealth, health, and lifelong peace.

She drank too much and didn’t stumble home until the next afternoon, still groggy.

The house was empty. Not a soul in sight.

Only then did she remember that I had gotten married too.

She frowned.

A sudden thought flashed in her mind. “Hailee got married without saying a word to me?”

A flicker of irritation rose in her.

But she had completely forgotten that that day, her eyes and heart had been all for Charlee–she

hadn’t spared me a single glance, hadn’t even noticed I’d packed up and taken all my belongings

with me.

At that moment, she had no idea I had already left the country.

Two days later, Charlee came home to visit her.

In just a few short days, Charlee looked radiant, her complexion glowing with health.

Her husband, Darrell, looked equally vibrant and full of life.

The gifts they brought were far more lavish than before.

Darrell greeted her warmly, a genuine smile plastered across his face.

“Mom! We’re back to see you! Thanks to the blessings you gave us at the wedding, the stock I bought jumped nearly 20% in three days!”

Charlee nodded bashfully, her chin held high, her eyes sparkling with unmistakable pride.

“Of course! Mom’s words are pure magic!”

Guarded by Mom’s magic, Charlee was destined for a life of smooth sailing and endless luck.

Hearing those words, Mom should have been ecstatic.

Instead, she seemed distracted, barely managing a couple of brief, detached responses.

Her eyes instinctively darted toward the front door, and she kept glancing at her watch.

By all rights, Hailee should have come to see her too.

Mom frowned as she looked out at the scorching sun, an anxious restlessness creeping into her

mind. “It’s already noon. Why hasn’t Hailee shown up yet?”

“Mom, what are you looking at?”

Noticing Mom’s subtle shift in mood, Charlee stepped forward and took her hand.

Mom paused before answering, “Hailee hasn’t come to visit.”

Charlee froze, clearly surprised that Mom was still thinking about me.

She quietly tightened her grip on Mom’s hand, forcing a careless smile onto her face.

“She’s probably just stuck in traffic. Don’t wait up for her. Darrell’s making us a feast today…”

“His lobster is unbelievable! Every time he makes it I can’t get enough.”

That single line quickly drew Mom’s attention away

Her lips curved upward as she watched Darrell bustling around in the kitchen, nodding in

satisfaction.

“Really? Then I can’t wait to try it.”

Relieved, Charlee turned around to prepare some fresh berries for Mom.

“Seasonal berries are the sweetest right now. Mom let me fetch some for you.”

Mom waved her off with a chuckle. “Go on, then.”

After Charlee turned away, Mom picked up her phone, found my number, and pressed call.

It rang and rang–until finally, it went to voicemail.

It was the first time in my entire life that I hadn’t answered Mom’s call on the first ring.

Mom’s frown deepened.

For reasons she couldn’t explain, her heart began to race wildly.

It felt as though she had lost something precious…

She tried to shake off the unease and dialed again.

This time, all she heard was the automated tone indicating her number had been blocked.

Mom’s eyes widened in disbelief.

Her grip gave way, and the phone slipped from her hand, clattering to the floor.
