I Waited For My Mother’s Blessings, Only To Find She Gave All Her Luck To My Sister Chapter 04

But I hadn’t realized just how powerful my mother’s magic truly was.

Fearing for Daisy’s safety, I kept her locked in my room and refused to let her out.

I only stepped out briefly to buy groceries, but when I returned, the bedroom door was inexplicably wide open.

Daisy was gone.

Terror hit me instantly.

To make me happy, Daisy had a habit of sneaking out every day to pick flowers for me.

I had locked her inside specifically to keep her safe from any accidents.

Panic-stricken, I ran to Mom. “Did you open the door?”

Mom remained expressionless, keeping her lips tightly sealed.

As despair settled over me, Charlee’s timid voice broke the quiet.

“Mom just accidentally forgot. She didn’t mean to…”

“Accidentally? Do you have any idea what your ‘accident’ could do to Daisy?”

The look on my face scared Charlee speechless.

I stared at Mom, whose lips never parted once, and whatever hope I still had in her died right there.

I bolted out the door.

Sure enough, at the intersection near our house, I found Daisy lying in the middle of the road, soaked in blood.

A bright, vibrant red rose was still clenched between her teeth.

I rushed Daisy to the nearest emergency vet.

The vet looked grim and told me to prepare for the worst.

Waiting outside the operating room in utter despair, I called Mom.

It took ten calls before she finally answered.

My voice trembled uncontrollably.

“Daisy really got hit by a car. She’s in surgery right now… Mom, you’re a witch. Please help me. Help Daisy get through this, please… I’m begging you…”

The line was quiet. I could hear her breathing on the other end.

I gritted my teeth and pleaded frantically, “I’ll pay—whatever your blessings cost, I’ll buy one. Just say something. Please, Mom, I can’t lose Daisy…”

She stayed silent.

After a long pause, Charlee’s voice echoed over the receiver.

“Mom, I’m about to lose this game! Quick, say something so I can turn it around!”

Mom let out an amused chuckle.

And finally—I heard her voice.

“You silly girl, you’re getting married in a few days and you’re still this hooked on games. Fine—this round, you’ll win.”

Charlee cheered in delight. “Thanks, Mom! Love you!”

It felt like a sledgehammer had slammed directly into my head, leaving me frozen where I stood.

The operating room door swung open.

“I’m so sorry… we did everything we could…”

I pulled back the white cloth and gently touched Daisy’s head.

Her eyes were closed, her small body no longer warm.

Beside her lay the rose she’d brought me, soaked in her blood—already wilting, as if to mark her passing.

And finally, my tears broke free.

The call had been disconnected at some point.

Morris arrived late, rushing into the clinic.

Leaning against his shoulder, a bitter ache surged up my throat.

I fought to choke back my sobs.

“Daisy is dead… Mom said it. She said Daisy would get hit by a car…”

“Why? I already gave up our wedding planner to Charlee…”

I was crying so hard I could barely breathe.

Morris held me tightly, his eyes brimming with profound heartache.

“Hailee, we’re leaving the country tomorrow.”

“Let’s do a destination wedding instead, okay?”

I closed my eyes, my voice rasping. “Okay… We are never coming back.”

“Never again…”

Once I’d pulled myself together, I spent the day laying Daisy to rest.

The next day, the wedding day arrived.

Mom happily saw Charlee off to her wedding, never noticing that I hadn’t come home all night.

Meanwhile, Morris and I boarded the earliest flight out of the country.

As the jet engines roared to life, I never once looked back.
