I Jumped With Her She Landed in My Husband’s Arms Chapter 09

The second Vincent saw Ezra, he knew it was him–the one who’d carried me away that night.

He would never forget that face.

Even though they’d only met once, it haunted his nightmares, taking me away again and again.

Vincent instantly wanted to charge at Ezra and punch him.

Ezra was far away, surrounded by a crowd of people flattering him the moment he appeared.

The impulsive Vincent was held back before he could move.

The man who stopped him was someone he’d met in Klatdale

these days, a socialite from Klatdale, albeit a minor one.

“Hey, Vincent, what are you doing? You look like you’re gonna hit Mr. Kingsley.”

“You can’t mess with him. Didn’t I tell you? The Kingsley

family is at the very top here–they’re in a league of their own.

It’s not just about money at that level.”

“Do you have some grudge against him?”

Vincent’s rage boiled up at the same time as the helplessness from the man’s warning.

In the end, he could only say, “He stole my wife.”

Murmurs broke out all around them.

People whispered that Kaylee, standing next to him, was the

other woman.

Kaylee’s practiced smile was starting to falter, but no matter how many hints she threw at Vincent, he didn’t respond.

In the past, a single look from her had been enough to make

him understand.

The man spoke to Vincent earnestly, “Let it go. There are

plenty of women. Didn’t you say your family’s been getting hit hard by some force from Klatdale?”

“Look, if you could just get on Mr. Kingsley’s good side, everything would be golden.”

Vincent squeezed his glass so hard it split open.

Every harsh threat he’d made before now felt like a slap to his

own face.

He couldn’t beat this man. He couldn’t destroy him.

And then, of all moments, Ezra’s gaze swept over in their direction. Contempt. Mockery.

Vincent snapped. He shoved Kaylee aside and rushed forward.

Just then, he saw a pair of hands slip through Ezra’s arm.

Rough hands, covered in calluses and scars.

My hands.

He froze on the spot.

Before the anger could even hit him, something else came first

-a stunning realization.

It was like the first time we’d met, like he’d fallen for me all

over again in one glance.

He couldn’t remember how many years it had been since he’d

seen me like this.

It almost knocked him right back to the brash, love–struck young man he used to be.

He instinctively straightened his clothes.

But he touched a fresh wound.

He’d been beaten up by men in a sack not long after arriving in

Klatdale.

Back in Yreuford, those men would have been dead by sunrise.

But this was Klatdale. He was completely powerless.

“Audrey…”

My eyes slid past him without a pause. Together with Ezra, I turned and walked away, meeting the gaze of countless

onlookers.

He chased after me.

In those few short steps, a million thoughts raced through his

head.

Finally, he blurted out, “He’s just the Kingsley heir by name- he doesn’t even have real inheritance rights. Audrey, you don’t know how these rich families fight. When the new head takes over, they’ll destroy him. How much money are you getting from him anyway?”

“I’m different. I’m the Larson heir. Once my family gets

through this, everything will go back to normal. I already got

investments, I swear. My grandpa’s sick, and the family will be

mine soon.”

“Audrey, come back to me. You’re still my wife. I’ll act like

none of this ever happened…”

He reached out toward me hesitantly.

Kaylee heard his words from not far away and panicked

instantly.

She rushed forward recklessly. “Vincent, you said you’d love me forever! Are you gonna keep me hidden forever? I…”

Before she could finish, Vincent threw her aside.

Kaylee crashed into a champagne tower and fell onto a floor of

broken glass.

The alcohol seeped into her cuts, and she couldn’t help but

scream in pain.

But Vincent kept his eyes fixed on me. Stubbornly, he reached

out his hand.

I lifted my hand.

Hope lit up his eyes.

But I moved my hand away before he could touch mine.

I picked up a glass of champagne and threw it all in his face.

Then I turned and walked to the stage with Ezra.

Dad was already waiting for me there.
