I Jumped With Her She Landed in My Husband’s Arms Chapter 10

I Jumped With Her She Landed in My Husband’s Arms Chapter 10

“Dad, Mom.”

Vincent’s eyes turned bloodshot when he heard me call them

my parents.

When he tried to charge forward again, he was restrained.

Kaylee, screaming nearby, had her mouth covered.

“Everyone.”

All eyes in the room locked onto our family of four.

Mom held me close, overflowing with joy.

“We invited you here today to introduce another member of the Kingsley family.”

Vincent struggled wildly.

He couldn’t let me be introduced to the world as someone

else’s woman.

He took punch after punch.

His throat was thick with the taste of blood.

He finally broke free.

But then he heard my father look at me and say, “This is my daughter. She is also the future heir of the Kingsley family.”

“The Kingsley family doesn’t play petty rich–family games. As

parents, we only want to give our precious girl the best. Ezra,

her brother, feels the same way.”

Thunderous applause filled the room.

Everyone clapped as loudly as they could, afraid of being

overlooked.

Only Vincent and Kaylee stood frozen, barely breathing.

Vincent stared at Ezra, finally realizing that he was my

brother.

He didn’t know whether to feel relieved or terrified. A mess of

emotions twisted inside him.

Finally, he let out a long breath.

Because something suddenly occurred to him.

The baby.

It would have been four months old now.

That child was his!

Nothing in this moment could make him more excited than

this.

I hadn’t betrayed him at all. The baby was his.

Even if I’d been the one targeting his family… I was

soft–hearted. I loved babies more than anything. I would never

let my child be born without a father.

Even the my family could become his support.

He relaxed instantly.

When I stepped off the stage, he stared straight at my belly.

“How’s the baby?”

“I heard mother can feel kicks at four months. My grandpa said my mom went through hell carrying me. If this one’s anything like me, you’re probably in for the same kind of trouble, right?”

“Wouldn’t it be easier if the father was there…”

He lit up when I touched my belly.

He knew it.

But I lifted my head again and spoke softly, “Yeah, if it were

four months old, there would be kicks. But…”

“It died at three months.”

Vincent felt as if he’d been struck dumb by a thunderclap.

He suddenly noticed that my belly was completely flat.

No malnourished pregnant woman could show no bump at

four months.

The moment this realization hit him, Vincent stumbled

backward.

People stepped aside for him.

He stepped right on the broken glass.

He stepped on Kaylee’s hand.

All he could see in his mind’s eye was the scene from the

examination room that night.

Right. The floor covered in blood.

He hadn’t even noticed.

Why? Why had there been so much blood?

He suddenly bent down and grabbed Kaylee, who was barely conscious, by the neck. “Was it you? Talk!”

Vincent’s explosive rage stripped away any courage Kaylee had

left to lie.

She could only nod.

But worse was coming for her.

Vincent looked completely insane. He laughed and cried at the

same time.

He kept screaming that it was all his fault. Then screaming that Kaylee had to pay with her life.

He stabbed her with shards of glass again and again.

Until I finally spoke, “Don’t let her die. Those glasses add up

to tens of millions. I hate to see money go to waste. She’s going to have to pay every cent back.”

Vincent froze.

He looked at me, utterly disheveled.

He whispered, “Audrey, I’m sorry…”

I acted like I didn’t see him at all.

“Ah, didn’t Mr. Larson just say he’d secured an investment

from Klatdale? Who was it from, exactly?”

Everyone rushed to deny it at once.

After that night, I stopped targeting the Larson family.

But there was no shortage of people eager to take up the torch. Afraid of being mistaken for someone willing to work with the Larsons, they barely dared to pause.

The Larson family became completely isolated.

Even in Yreuford, they were under siege from all sides.

When Vincent’s grandfather learned the full story, he was so enraged by Vincent that he was rushed back to the ICU..

As for the other Larsons who had been dragged down by him- once the old man was no longer there to shield Vincent, they turned all their rage on him and Kaylee.

Kaylee was already dying after Vincent stabbed her.

Later, threats drove her completely insane.

She became a vegetable after delayed treatment.

Her parents were ashamed of her and cut ties with her early

  1. on.

No one knew where she was now.

The next time I saw Vincent was right after I finished the Larson Enterprises acquisition ceremony.

The family business he’d once been so proud of was now all

mine.

Both his legs were broken, his face scarred.

But he was still stubbornly waiting outside the company

building, hoping to see me.

Not long before that, because I had been slow to make my

stance clear, some people had grown impatient.

“Ms. Kingsley, he’s the one who cost you your child. We’ve had him castrated–so he can never go around in heat again. Would that be satisfactory to you?”

After all, even though Larson Enterprises was acquired, they

could still benefit from it as long as I didn’t destroy them

completely.

I didn’t say yes or no.

So when I saw Vincent again, he was barely human.

He couldn’t afford a wheelchair. He could only drag his broken legs and lie on the back of a farm cart.

His hair had turned quite gray.

He looked withered, like he’d aged twenty years.

The man who had once been a proud, untouchable golden boy

was now nothing more than a beggar people spat on.

He no longer dared to lift his head and face the world.

Only when he saw me did his eyes light up. “Audrey, I… I’ve

always wanted to say I’m sorry… I…”

He watched a college boy put his arm around me and kiss me, and his eyes went dark instantly.

His heart felt like it was being torn apart.

I acted like I didn’t see him.

After I finished being affectionate with the college boy, I finally noticed Vincent. “Huh? Since when do bums get to hang around company buildings?”

“Get him out of my sight. Now.”

I linked arms with the college boy and left.

As we left, I couldn’t help but muse out loud, “Vincent did teach me one thing. No one stays young forever, but there’s always someone young. Ah, I wish I’d figured that out

sooner.”

“Sweetheart, I’m twenty. Is that young enough for you?”

We laughed and walked away.

The next day, I overheard employees talking about how that bum who’d been loitering around the company plaza had suddenly started wailing and charged straight into oncoming

traffic.

A big freight truck ran right over him. He fell apart like a broken toy, scattering pieces all over the road. Even the cops had to look away.

I just shrugged.

What did that have to do with me?
