Vincent had been run ragged these past few days. 

It wasn’t just that the Larson family business had suddenly crashed into problems. 

He couldn’t even figure out where the trouble was coming 

from. 

It didn’t come from any force in Yreuford. 

It was way outside his control. 

Even Vincent’s grandfather, who was supposed to be 

recovering from his illness, had to get involved. 

But the only response from the other side was silence. 

Finally, after calling in every favor they had, they learned it 

was a power from Klatdale. 

Vincent’s grandfather ordered Vincent, who’d been fooling 

around nonstop, to go to Klatdale at once. Bringing back a deal 

would be best. 

If not, he at least had to find out who they had offended. 

Someone powerful enough to leave them no way to fight back. 

Vincent didn’t want to go. He had more important things to

A month had passed. He still hadn’t found a single trace of me. 

I’d vanished from Yreuford like I’d never existed. 

“Useless! Find her again!” 

He was already furious, and then his grandfather gave an 

ultimatum. “If you don’t go, you lose your place as the Larson 

heir!” 

He had no choice but to obey. 

He was lost in thought when someone wrapped their arms around him from behind. “Vincent, are you going to 

Klatdale?” 

“I want to go too! I’ve never been there. Take me with you, please?” 

Vincent looked at the woman he had once dreamed of–but for 

some reason, that flutter in his heart was gone. 

It was as if she was just an extension of me. A shadow. Only when she was by my side could she realize her full worth. 

He wanted to push her away. He wasn’t in the mood to be close 

to her at all. 

Her soft, coquettish voice only annoyed him. 

Then a thought hit him. 

If I was nowhere to be found in Yreuford… Had I gone to 

Klatdale? 

He realized it in an instant and ordered his assistant to book a 

private jet right away. 

He had to get there as fast as he could. 

He glanced at Kaylee, who looked hurt. 

A cruel idea crossed his mind. He’d take her with him. 

He wanted me to see how happy he was with her. 

He wanted me to know betraying him was the worst mistake 

I’d ever made. 

The longing he’d felt all this time had grown stronger. His anger was long gone, only a faint bitterness remained. 

He’d strung the wedding band I’d thrown away on a chain and 

wore it around his neck. 

Every time he thought of me, he touched it. 

It was like I was still there with him. 

By now, he couldn’t deny it anymore that he was the one who 

couldn’t live without me. 

No one was better than him. He just hadn’t known that when I chose to betray him. 

He even found himself regretting those seven years of 

pretending. 

If he’d told me the truth sooner, I wouldn’t have left him because I couldn’t stand the poverty. 

If I just came back, he thought, he’d forgive me. He’d act like nothing had ever happened. He’d even have a baby with me. 

All I had to do was get rid of that bastard. 

That was his only demand now.
