I Jumped With Her She Landed in My Husband’s Arms Chapter 07

When I opened my eyes again, my hand instinctively went to my lower abdomen.

“Sweetheart!”

When I fully came to, I heard crying.

“My poor girl…”

I realized in an instant that I was home.

My parents and Ezra were beside me.

All of them had bloodshot eyes and dark circles, looking

completely worn out.

It was clear they’d been watching over me for a very long time.

A sharp ache hit me out of nowhere.

But my first instinct was to run away.

I couldn’t face my parents.

When I’d cut ties with my family, I’d been so resolute.

My mom had nearly fainted from anger.

My dad had waved me away in disappointment, telling me to get out and never come back. He said he didn’t have a daughter

anymore.

But the next second, my mom pulled me into a tight hug. “Sweetheart, don’t hide from me. Let me look at you. You’re finally home.”

The familiar yet foreign embrace made tears burn in my eyes.

For seven years, I had told myself I had nothing to feel wronged about.

But in that moment, all of it came pouring out.

I broke down crying in my mom’s arms and told them

everything about those seven years.

“The basement in Yreuford had no AC in the summer. It was

like an oven.”

“There were rats and cockroaches, and they bit me. Once I got bitten, I was too cheap to go to the hospital. I ran a high fever and thought I’d die of the plague. But I got lucky. It was just

the flu.”

“Mom, I’m really tough now. A cold doesn’t even slow me

down at work.”

“And in winter, it’s colder underground. The damp cold goes right to my bones. I think I have chronic joint pain now. It hurts badly when it’s cold.”

“But I can handle pain so much better than before. I think I’m

pretty amazing.”

As I talked, I tried to lighten the mood, so I laughed.

But everyone listening cried.

It wasn’t just Mom who cried at how I’d grown through all

that suffering.

Ezra did too.

And Dad. That strong, unshakable man. I watched him turn

away quietly and wipe his eyes.

Mom gave a tearful smile. “Your dad’s just being proud. He waited by the door the second he got the news.”

Mom held me even tighter. “It’s all right, baby. It’s over.

You’re never going to suffer again.”

I finally found the courage to apologize. “Mom, Dad, Ezra… I’m sorry.”

After seven years away, I finally saw how terribly wrong I’d

been.

I realized how deeply I’d hurt them.

And I finally understood what real love was.

Between Vincent and me… It had probably only ever been my

one–sided love.

Thinking of Vincent, I spoke slowly, “No. It’s not over.”

I’d meant what I said.

I wanted him to pay for that baby.

“Sweetheart, whatever you want to do, go ahead and do it.”

“You will always be the heir of the Kingsley family. The entire Kingsley family stands behind you.”
