He Took Me For Weak And Helpless Chapter 21

He Took Me For Weak And Helpless Chapter 21

The car tore down the mountain road at a mad speed, Adrian’s hands locked tight around the steering wheel,

not a word leaving his mouth.

“The kidnappers are obviously targeting us, and they know this area well,” Ethan said, his voice taut with tension. “Summer only just recovered. She can’t handle much more of this. We have to move fast.”

Adrian said nothing.

He just slammed the accelerator all the way down.

He didn’t dare think about it.

He didn’t dare imagine how terrified Summer was right now, or what those people might do to her.

If something happened to her-

Adrian abruptly shook his head, cutting off the thought before he could go any further.

Half an hour later, the car screeched to a stop in front of an abandoned warehouse.

Adrian shoved the door open and got out. Ethan was right behind him. Neither of them hesitated as they headed straight for the warehouse entrance.

“Stop right there!”

“Where is she?” Adrian barked.

“What’s the rush? You want the girl, then do exactly what we say. Toss your phone, put your hands on your head, and walk in nice and obediently.”

Ethan stepped forward at once, blocking Adrian. “No. It’s a setup.”

“I don’t care. As long as she’s safe, I’ll do whatever it takes.”

Without hesitation, Adrian hurled his phone to the ground and crushed it beneath his heel. Then he raised his

hands and strode into the warehouse.

The farther in he went, the colder the air became.

At the very back, Summer was tied to a rusted metal frame, a strip of black cloth bound over her eyes.

“Summer!”

Adrian’s heart clenched, and he nearly lunged for her.

“Don’t move!”

The ringleader stepped out of the shadows with a knife in his hand and pressed the blade right against Summer’s throat.

“One more step, and I slit her throat.”

Adrian froze instantly, slowly lowering his hands.

“Don’t touch her! Whatever you want, take it out on me. Let her go!”

The man sneered. “Adrian, remember Lola? She paid us a hell of a lot of money because she wanted you to

know what it feels like to lose the person you love most.”

Adrian’s pupils contracted sharply.

These were Lola’s people.

She still dared to cause trouble.

“I’ll pay you double. Let her go.”

“I want her dead now.” The man pressed slightly harder, and Summer shuddered in pain.

“I’ll take her place. Do whatever you want to me, but don’t hurt her.”

Summer shook her head hard. “Adrian… go… don’t worry about me…”

“I’m not leaving. I’m never leaving you behind again.”

While everyone’s attention was fixed on Adrian, Ethan quietly edged toward the side, his eyes sweeping the

room as he searched for the best moment to strike.

The ringleader was clearly running out of patience. “Then get on your knees and slam your head to the floor three times. Do that, and maybe I’ll think about letting her go.”

The other kidnappers burst into laughter.

“Come on, Mr. Carter, kneel!”

“What happened to all that swagger of yours? Getting scared now?”

Adrian’s face went dark, his eyes cold and menacing.

In all these years, when had he ever suffered humiliation like this?

But when he looked at the knife pressed against Summer’s throat, he didn’t hesitate for even a moment. He

bent his knees and dropped heavily onto the freezing concrete floor.

Three dull thuds echoed through the warehouse.

The whole place fell silent.

Blood began to bead across his forehead, but he seemed not to feel it at all.

“Now,” he said, “can you let her go?”

“I changed my mind. Today, both of you die.”

The man raised the knife and drove it straight toward Summer’s chest.

“No!”

Adrian charged forward like a madman and threw himself in front of her, taking the blade in his back.

The knife sank deep into him, and blood instantly spread through his black shirt.

At that exact moment, Ethan moved.

He kicked the nearest kidnapper away, snatched an iron rod, and took down several men in rapid succession,

his movements fast and clean.

The remaining kidnappers immediately rushed toward him.

Fighting through the searing pain in his back, Adrian pulled the concealed handgun from his waist and fired

one shot into the ceiling.

The gunshot thundered through the warehouse.

Every kidnapper froze where he stood.

“The police already have this place surrounded,” Adrian said coldly. “Drop your weapons and surrender, or

die.”

Before coming in, he had secretly instructed the hidden bodyguards to call the police.

The ringleader turned deathly pale. He gritted his teeth and tried to rush them anyway, only to have Adrian shoot him through the arm. He screamed and collapsed to the ground.

A few minutes later, the police stormed into the warehouse, subdued every kidnapper, snapped handcuffs on

them, and dragged them out.

At last, Adrian could no longer hold himself up.

His body gave out, and he started to collapse to the floor.

“Adrian!”
