He Took Me For Weak And Helpless Chapter 17

He Took Me For Weak And Helpless Chapter 17

The black sedan sped down the road before finally turning into a private estate.

The iron gates closed slowly behind them, sealing Summer off from the outside world.

Adrian lifted her into his arms without a word. Ignoring her crying and struggling, he carried her straight into

the primary bedroom.

He set her down on the soft bed, turned around, and locked the door.

The sharp click of the lock made Summer shudder. She shrank back against the wall, staring at him with

naked fear in her eyes.

“Adrian, let me out! Where is this? You can’t keep me locked up here!”

“This is our home.” Adrian stepped closer, one slow step at a time. “I let you suffer before, and I let you

escape. That won’t happen again.”

“I’m never giving you another chance to leave me.”

He crouched in front of her and reached out to wipe away her tears, but Summer snapped her head aside

and sank her teeth hard into his wrist.

The metallic taste of blood spread across her tongue.

Adrian let out a low grunt, but he didn’t pull back. He just stared at her. “Go ahead. Bite me all you want. If it

helps you vent, do it. Just stop looking at me like that. I can’t take it.”

Summer released him and turned her face away. “I hate you. I will never forgive you for the rest of my life.”

“That’s fine. Better your hatred than your forgetting me. As long as you stay with me, I can take it, whether

you hate me, curse at me, or refuse to speak to me.”

He stood and pressed the intercom. “Bring breakfast upstairs. And send a doctor to dress this wound.”

Soon, a housekeeper brought in an elaborate breakfast, and a doctor came to treat the bite marks on

Adrian’s wrist.

The whole time, Adrian’s eyes never left Summer.

After everyone left, he picked up a bowl of porridge and walked over to her. “Eat something. You barely ate at

all yesterday.”

“I’m not eating. Either kill me or let me go.”

Adrian went still for a second. Then he set the bowl down, grabbed her chin, and forced her to look up at

him.

“Kill you? I couldn’t bear to. Let you go? Don’t even think about it.”

“Summer, get this through your head.”

“You’re my wife, legally and publicly. As far as the world is concerned, you’re a Carter for life. You belong to this family until the day you die.”

He leaned in until his forehead rested against hers. “I already have people watching Ethan. You’d better stop

thinking about him, because I can’t promise what I’ll do to him otherwise.”

Summer’s face turned deathly pale. “You wouldn’t dare! Adrian, if you touch him, I will never forgive you!”

“Then don’t forgive me. As long as you stay with me, whether you forgive me or not doesn’t matter.”

For the next several days, Adrian never left her side.

When he handled work, he kept her on his lap. If she struggled, he only tightened his arms around her and

held her even harder.

If she refused to eat, he fed her bite by bite himself.

Every door and window in the estate was under security lockdown. Without Adrian’s permission, she couldn’t

take a single step outside.

That night, Summer lay in bed with her back to him, awake the entire time.

Behind her, the man slowly moved closer and carefully wrapped an arm around her waist.

“Summer… I know you’re afraid of me. I know you hate me. But I really can’t live without you.”

“Every time I close my eyes, I dream that you’ve left and that you’re never coming back. It’s driving me out of

my mind.”

“Give me one more chance, okay? I’ll treat you well. I’ll lay the whole world at your feet.”

Summer bit down hard on her lip and said nothing. Silent tears soaked into the pillow.

It wasn’t that she had never loved him. It wasn’t that her heart had never moved for him.

But all of that love had already been ground into ashes by the hurt he had inflicted on her, piece by piece.

Behind her, he kept whispering in a low, pleading voice.

Adrian thought that as long as he kept her locked by his side, he could keep her forever.

What he didn’t understand was that even if he could imprison her body, he would never be able to imprison her will to leave.
