He Took Me For Weak And Helpless Chapter 16

He Took Me For Weak And Helpless Chapter 16

Summer didn’t sleep all night.

At first light, a steady knock sounded outside the villa. The next second, the door was pushed open.

Adrian stood in the doorway in a black suit. His eyes were bloodshot, and the crushing pressure radiating off

him made it hard to breathe. Every so often, he flicked the key in his hand.

“How… how do you have a key?” Summer took a step back and hit the edge of the couch, her whole body turning cold.

Adrian walked in slowly, his gaze fixed on her. “This house belongs to the Carter family. Since when do I need

your permission to come in?”

Ethan immediately stepped in front of Summer, shielding her behind him. “Adrian, this is trespassing. Get

out. Now.”

Adrian’s eyes turned icy. “Ethan, I gave you the chance to stay in your lane. You’re the one who insisted on putting your hands on what’s mine.”

Before he had even finished speaking, Adrian lunged forward and shoved Ethan away with brutal force. Caught off guard, Ethan stumbled into the corner wall and let out a muffled grunt.

“Ethan!” Summer cried, trying to go help him, but Adrian clamped a hand around her wrist.

“Adrian, let me go!”

He didn’t listen. He dragged her toward the door.

Summer fought with everything she had, tears pouring down her face. “I’m not going with you! Adrian, let go

of me! You’re insane!”

“I am insane. I’ve been insane since the day you left me.”

“I spent three whole months looking for you. I turned over half the world trying to find you. Every single day, I lived with regret. Every time I closed my eyes, all I saw was you crying as you walked away from me. And you? You ran off and started playing house with another man?”

“Summer, how dare you?”

Half dragging, half carrying her, he hauled her to the front door.

Ethan fought his way back to his feet and rushed forward to stop him, only to be intercepted by Adrian’s

bodyguards, who grabbed him and pinned him in place.

“Let her go! Adrian, if you take her, I won’t let this go!” Ethan shouted, practically roaring.

Adrian turned his head, but didn’t even spare Ethan a real glance. “Ethan, remember who you are. She is my wife, legally and publicly. You’re nothing but an outsider.”

“If you go near her again, I won’t mind making you disappear.”

Without another word, he shoved Summer into the black car parked outside and slammed the door, cutting off all her sobs and struggles.

The car pulled away smoothly, leaving the villa behind.

Curled into the corner of the backseat, Summer trembled violently, tears blurring her vision. She stared at the scenery flying past the window, despair swallowing her whole.

She had thought she’d escaped. She had thought she could finally start over. But in the end, he had still dragged her back.

Adrian sat beside her, watching her red-rimmed eyes, and it felt as if something inside his chest were being

ripped apart. He reached out, wanting to touch her face, but she jerked away from him at once.

“Don’t touch me!” Summer’s voice was hoarse. “Adrian, what do you want from me? What will it take for you

to let me go?”

His hand froze in midair, and the softness in his eyes vanished instantly.

“Summer, I will never let you go. Not in this lifetime.”

“You’re my wife. You’re carved into my bones. Even if you hate me, despise me, or fear me, you’re still staying by my side.”

“I was the bastard before. I was blind enough to be fooled by Lola, and I broke your heart. I’ve already

punished her. She’ll never appear in front of us again.”

“I can change anything. I’ll give you whatever you want. I’m begging you, just don’t leave me again.”

Summer turned her face away as tears slid down her cheeks. “Then I’m begging you too. Please let me go.”
