Dad’s Secret Daughter Called Herself Heiress, But Mom’s Family Owned Everything Chapter 05

Dad’s Secret Daughter Called Herself Heiress, But Mom’s Family Owned Everything Chapter 05

The room fell so silent that you could hear Tara breathing.

Dad seized the moment while Tara was still frozen in shock, violently shaking off her grip and rushing over to Mom and me.

“Honey, listen to me! This has to be a setup. Someone must have faked that paternity test just to drive a wedge between us!”

“Isn’t this lab the most reputable in the country? How could their results be fake?” Mom asked, her face incredibly tense.

Dad desperately scrambled to defend himself. “Maybe Everett bribed them! I swear on my life, since the day I married you, I have never once stepped out on you. May I die a horrible death if I’m lying.”

Seeing how absolute Dad was, Mom’s resolve began to waver.

“Fine. I’ll call in experts right now to test both of you again. We’ll see if she’s actually your daughter.”

“Do it! You have to clear my name!” Dad agreed instantly, his voice thick with emotion.

To ensure no one could tamper with the results, Mom pulled out her phone and contacted ten different private medical teams at once.

By then, Tara and Everett finally snapped out of their daze.

Tara stared at Dad, her eyes wide with horror. “Dad, you’re a live-in husband? None of this billionaire fortune belongs to you?”

“That’s right, I’m a live-in husband.” Dad admitted it without hesitation, even sounding a little proud.

“The real billionaire in the Morrison family has always been my wife, Lydia. I took her last name. All of these assets were inherited from her family or built by her. They have absolutely nothing to do with me.”

I chimed in from the side. “So even if you are his daughter, it doesn’t matter. The person with all the money is my mother. Only the child who came out of her womb—which is me—is the real heiress.”

Tara’s mind nearly short-circuited when she saw Dad admit it so readily.

Everett, too, was standing there, trying to untangle the web of relationships between us. “So… the Morrison fortune belongs to Mrs. Morrison. That means the real Morrison heiress is Iris. She’s my actual fiancée.”

“Wrong.” I cut him off coldly. “Our engagement is officially canceled. Tara is your fiancée. Don’t say disgusting things like that to me.”

Everett choked on his words, his face flushing with embarrassment as he remembered what he had just bragged about a moment ago.

Mom remained silent, her eyes locked completely onto Tara’s face.

I knew exactly what she was thinking.

I had noticed it too; Tara’s facial features actually did resemble Dad’s.

Dad, meanwhile, didn’t even spare Tara a glance. He was too busy fussing over Mom.

“Stop looking at her, honey. Just because she looks like me doesn’t make her my daughter. There are plenty of people in this world who resemble each other.”

Mom still didn’t acknowledge him.

It was clear she wouldn’t be speaking to him until the new results came out.

Tara locked eyes with Mom, plainly cooking up some plan.

Ten minutes later, the medical teams finally arrived.

As they began setting up their professional equipment to collect hair samples from Tara and Dad, Mom suddenly stepped forward and stopped them.

“Forget the hair. Draw blood directly.”
