“Watch your mouth. We don’t even know the whole story yet.”

Tara was about to snap back at me when my parents finally rushed through the front door.

They froze in the entryway, taking in the scene in the living room before staring directly at Tara.

Tara instantly locked her eyes onto Dad and threw herself at him.

“Dad! I finally found you after all these years. I’m your real daughter! That girl Iris is just a fraud. She isn’t biologically yours!”

She then shoved the paternity test reports right in front of him.

“Look, here’s the proof! It clearly says I’m your daughter.”

Faced with a strange girl suddenly lunging at him, Dad looked completely blank. He wasn’t faking the confusion.

Mom stepped up, snatched the reports from her hands, and her face instantly darkened the moment she read them.

“Victor Morrison, you better give me a damn good explanation for this!”

“I don’t know, honey!” Dad looked utterly bewildered. “I swear I have no idea where this girl came from. I would never cheat on you. Honey, there has to be a mistake!”

“Dad, why are you even bothering to explain anything to her?” Tara cut him off before he could finish.

“This woman’s been unfaithful. Iris isn’t your daughter, but she is biologically hers.” Everett stepped forward to throw more fuel on the fire. “That means she’s been cheating on you for over a decade! How can you stand for that? You need to teach her a lesson!”

“Mr. Morrison, I used the most reputable lab in the country for these tests. The results are solid. This is your family business, and I shouldn’t interfere, but Tara is my fiancée. That makes you my future father-in-law. I can’t just stand by and watch Mrs. Morrison and Iris deceive you.”

Mom zeroed in on Everett’s wording immediately. “Hold on, Everett. Did you just call Tara your fiancée? Isn’t Iris the one engaged to you?”

“That engagement is null and void.” Everett shot Mom a disdainful look.

“Mrs. Morrison, I’m only calling you that out of politeness. How could a bastard child born from an affair be engaged to me? Only Mr. Morrison’s biological daughter deserves to be my fiancée.”

“Born from an affair?” Mom’s voice strained.

“What else would it be?” Tara chimed in. “You obviously ruined the relationship between my dad and my biological mother. Otherwise, why would you be his wife right now? You shameless mother-and-daughter duo need to be kicked out.”

She aggressively shook Dad’s arm. “Dad, kick them out! Then find my real mother so we can finally be a family!”

“Wow. Well done, Victor. You really are something.” Mom gritted her teeth, her eyes sweeping over the three of them.

“Since you want to find her birth mother so badly, all three of you can get the hell out of my house. Victor, I’ll have the divorce papers sent to you tomorrow morning.”

Dad’s face went completely pale. He opened his mouth to deny any connection to Tara, but she cut him off yet again.

“Why should we leave? This is the Morrison estate, and all of this wealth belongs to my dad. If anyone is getting kicked out, it’s you and Iris!”

Mom looked down at Tara with absolute disdain, a cold, mocking smile playing on her lips.

“You think the Morrison fortune belongs to Victor? Then tell me, did you know his actual last name isn’t even Morrison? It’s Bentley.”

“Bentley?” Tara asked, confused. “Then why did he change it to Morrison?”

“Because he took my family’s name!”

Mom’s voice rang through the room, sharp and commanding.

“Every single cent of the Morrison fortune belongs to me, Lydia Morrison. Your father is nothing but a live-in husband. So yes, you three are the ones getting kicked out.”
