Dad’s Secret Daughter Called Herself Heiress, But Mom’s Family Owned Everything Chapter 03

Everett knew the code to our door and let himself in without waiting for anyone to open it.

The moment he stepped inside, he hurried to Tara’s side with a look of deep concern.

“I told you I’d come with you. Why did you come alone? Did Iris give you a hard time?”

“No, I just couldn’t wait any longer, so I came ahead.”

The two of them completely treated me like I was invisible.

I stared at Everett, taking a moment to find my voice.

“Everett, don’t you have something to explain to me?”

“Explain what to you?”

Everett looked at me with an expression I had never seen on him before.

“Tara is the real Morrison daughter and my true fiancée. If fate hadn’t brought us together, I would have ended up marrying the wrong person.”

“Our engagement stands with her. Why should I explain anything to a fake daughter?”

“Are you really that sure I’m the fake one?” I countered. “Even if Tara is my dad’s daughter, that doesn’t mean I’m not.”

“You really won’t give up until you hit a wall, will you?”

Everett shot me a look of pure disdain.

“I was planning to wait until Mr. Morrison and Mrs. Morrison got back to show this, but since you’re so desperate to deny it, I don’t mind slapping you with the facts right now.”

With that, Everett pulled another document from his pocket.

“See for yourself. This proves you aren’t Mr. Morrison’s daughter at all!”

I took the report, and my heart sank as I looked it over.

The results clearly stated that I shared no biological relation with Dad.

Was I really the fake daughter?

But growing up, everyone always said I looked exactly like Mom did when she was a kid. How could I not be their biological child?

Tara’s eyes lit up the moment she saw the paper. “When did you get Iris tested? You didn’t even tell me.”

“I just wanted to be absolutely thorough. With this, it’s undeniable that you’re Mr. Morrison’s only daughter.”

Hearing Everett’s words, a sudden realization flashed through my mind. “Did you run a test between my mother and me?”

Everett hesitated. “I did do one, actually, but we already know you aren’t Mr. Morrison’s daughter. Does Mrs. Morrison’s report even matter?”

“Of course it matters,” I pressed on immediately. “Are my mother and I biologically related?”

Though Everett didn’t understand why it mattered, he called the lab to make me face reality once and for all, putting the call on speakerphone.

“Hey, give me the results for Iris’s other DNA test.”

The voice of the lab technician came through the speaker.

“Mr. Hale, the second report shows that Iris and her mother are a perfect biological match. They are mother and daughter.”

Hearing that, I instantly breathed a sigh of relief.

As long as I was Mom’s daughter, nothing else mattered.

Every single asset in our family was earned by Mom and registered solely under her name.

In this house, whoever was Mom’s daughter was the true heiress.

Dad was nothing more than a live-in husband who didn’t own a single cent of the family fortune.

As for why I wasn’t biologically related to Dad, that was a question that would have to wait until Mom got back.

Beside me, Everett and Tara stared at each other, completely blindsided by the result.

“You’re Mrs. Morrison’s daughter, but not Mr. Morrison’s? Does that mean Mrs. Morrison had an affair?”

Tara urgently chimed in over the phone. “What about me? Am I her daughter?”

The technician pulled up her file, pausing for a moment. “The report shows that you share no biological relation with Mrs. Morrison.”

Tara’s face twisted. She whirled on me and snapped, “So your mother isn’t mine! That means your mother ruined my parents’ relationship and cheated on my dad. You two are disgusting.”
