During the statement, Damian never looked away from me.

His expression shifted from disbelief to confusion to pain.

It seemed he was finally realizing this time was different.

As I left, Damian, who’d been silent, spoke in a raspy voice.

“Claire.”

“Are you really going to leave me here?”

I looked at him and shook my head.

His eyes lit up with a flicker of hope.

Under his expectant gaze, I took a photo and sent it with the address to Poppy.

Someone had to bail him out and take him back.

Before I could block Poppy again, she called.

“Claire, you scheming bitch!”

“You think this proves anything? Don’t get cocky. Let me tell you, even if he’s with you now, so what?”

“We grew up together. Our families’ alliance is unbreakable. Even if Damian’s lost his mind temporarily, he’ll dump you eventually.”

“You’re not even legally married. Trust me, as long as I’m here, you never will be!”

“If you want to fight me, you better learn to take it!”

Poppy had completely misunderstood. She was screaming.

Damian’s face showed a flash of shock. For the first time, he snapped at Poppy.

“Shut up!”

“Claire, come back with me. We’ll file the paperwork right now.”

But he still made excuses for her. “Don’t mind her. Poppy… Poppy is just having an episode.”

I looked at Damian and shook my head slowly.

“She only has episodes in front of you. With me, she’s always like this.”

“And Damian, I’m actually glad we never filed.”

“Go home. Don’t let me see you again.”
