Canceled Honeymoon Chapter 01

Canceled Honeymoon Chapter 01

Before our honeymoon on the Amalfi Coast, my husband Damian canceled our flights without telling me.

He swapped them for tickets to Ibiza with his childhood friend Poppy.

Even his reckless buddies couldn’t quite stomach it.
They warned him he was going too far: “WTF, Damian? This is insane. Claire’s been looking forward to this forever.”

Damian didn’t care. He brushed them off.

“Poppy’s birthday wish. One last singles’ trip before I’m totally tied down.”

“Claire always makes a big deal out of nothing. This’ll teach her she’s not the center of the universe.”

The Poppy Damian talked about was his weepy childhood pal.
And I was the Claire he called by name.

I didn’t argue or make a scene. I just pretended I didn’t know.

I silently canceled the honeymoon and bought a one-way ticket to another country across the ocean.

My phone was lagging. The cancellation screen just kept spinning.

Meanwhile, Poppy’s pink tablet lit up with a nonstop iMessage group chat called *Astor Guard*.

When I opened the thread, Poppy’s icon filled the screen.

“Queen B👑: What the hell is wrong with you jerks?”

“Queen B👑: Every single one of you is siding with Claire. Like she’s your bro or something.”

“Queen B👑: Yeah, yeah. It’s all my fault.”

“Queen B👑: I’m a total bitch. I shouldn’t have a birthday, and I definitely shouldn’t have wished for Damian to come with me.”

“I should just kiss the new Queen Claire’s ass like the rest of you.”

“Queen B👑: You’re all family. I’m the outsider. Happy now? ffs!”

Damian, who had been silent in my chat for two days with a lame “in a meeting” excuse, replied instantly in the group.

He tagged the other six guys with a single “?”

Their icons immediately caved: “Sorry, sorry.”

“It’s just one trip. If Queen Poppy commands it, Damian’s there.”

“The six of us will trail behind as her personal bodyguards.”

Poppy fired back: “Screw off. Claire’s your real master.”

One of the hangers-on replied: “Claire means nothing. So what if you had a ceremony? That paperwork’s still locked in Damian’s safe. She’s a fake wife in name only.”

“Legally, it’s not even real. Who knows how this ends?”

I blinked at the overly cheerful group chat that had no place for me.

If Poppy hadn’t left her tablet in Damian’s car, I wouldn’t have had a window into this “fun.”

I’d still be researching itineraries and hoping for perfect honeymoon photos.

My phone buzzed once. The cancellation confirmation finally appeared.

I stared at my empty itinerary for a long time.

Then I went back to the main screen, entered a new destination, and made a call.

“Mom, I’m coming with you to London.”
