When I Was Reborn, I Froze All Her Accounts Chapter 09

It was Ethan. His vehicle suddenly lost all control.

The car lurched violently sideways, careering straight toward a concrete support pillar.

Ethan spun the steering wheel frantically inside the cabin. The tires screeched shrilly against the concrete, sounding like a dying animal letting out its last cries.

But he was going far too fast to correct the course in time.

“Help me!”

There was no one around who could possibly save him now.

The front end slammed hard into the pillar, crumpling half the hood inward on impact.

The windshield shattered, showering shards across the pavement.

The airbags deployed instantly, slamming into Ethan’s face and pinning him back.

I froze where I stood, my whole body trembling.

My phone rang. My assistant’s voice crackled with urgency on the line.

“Scarlett, security just reported a serious incident in the parking garage. Are you alright?”

“Get an ambulance dispatched right now.”

I ended the call and walked slowly toward the wreckage.

Ethan was slumped limp in the driver’s seat, the airbag already deflated and sagging.

His eyes lay half-open, and it was clear he had no vital signs remaining.

I straightened up and stared into his vacant eyes, my feelings a jumble I couldn’t quite put into

words.

It wasn’t long before paramedics arrived, followed by patrol officers, and the entire parking level

was cordoned off.

I was brought in to give a statement and didn’t get home until three in the morning.

When I turned on the television the next morning, the news was airing the story.

“Overnight, a severe collision occurred in the underground parking garage of a downtown commercial complex.”

“A young male driver struck a support pillar and was pronounced dead at the scene. Initial police

findings indicate the crash stemmed from sudden brake failure.”

“Sources identify the deceased as Ethan Rossi, second son of the former chairman of the Rossi

Group, who was officially disowned by his family the previous month.”

I switched off the TV and picked up my coffee.

A knock sounded at my door, and my assistant poked her head inside.

“Scarlett, are you feeling a little steadier now after last night?”

I met her worried gaze, nodded, and reassured her.

“I’m fine. Much better.”

“That’s such a relief. Ethan was absolutely awful for what he tried to do.”

“You were so good to him for the longest time, yet he still tried to murder you.”

I glanced down at the documents spread out before me.

“Enough about that. It’s all in the past. It is just as well that he died right there in the parking

garage.”

“If he had lived, I would have made him suffer a fate worse than death itself.”

The assistant lingered in the doorway, hesitating for a moment before speaking again.

“There’s something else I thought you ought to know. Detectives confirmed someone intentionally

cut Ethan’s brake line, and they’re still following up on leads.”

“Let them keep digging. I am eager to find out who else has been carrying out underhanded

schemes behind my back.”

The assistant nodded and stepped back out.

I leaned back in my chair and gazed out the window at the sky.

Ethan was dead, and Olivia was locked away serving her sentence.

I had won this long, bitter battle.
