When I Was Reborn, I Froze All Her Accounts Chapter 01

Right after graduating high school, Olivia, the girl everyone pegged as the low‑income scholarship kid, threw an outrageously lavish graduation party.

That very night, I received a text message alerting me that my bank card had been completely maxed out.

I went to confront Olivia, only to find her sobbing pitifully in my boyfriend Ethan’s arms.

“Just because I’m on monetary aid, I’m not allowed to throw a graduation party?”

Ethan rushed to soothe her, then whirled around and snapped harshly at me.

“You’re a Moretti. You’re drowning in funds—what’s it to you if Olivia spends a little of it?”

I could only scoff inwardly. Was I obligated to hand my funds over to anyone who asked just because I was wealthy?

I refused to back down and threatened to call the police to make her repay the funds. In retaliation, Ethan set out to sabotage my family, pushing my family’s company to the verge of insolvency.

I was out on the road trying to secure emergency investment when Ethan and Olivia plotted to run me down with their car, killing me on the spot.

When I opened my eyes again, I was transported back to the exact day Olivia was hosting her infamous graduation party.

“Yes, freeze all incoming and outgoing transactions linked to this card immediately.”

The first thing I did after waking up was grab my phone and call New York Bank’s customer service line.

After I froze the card Olivia had taken from me, I finally breathed a sigh of relief.

I glanced around my familiar surroundings, sinking deep into thought.

My phone rang right on cue, the caller ID lighting up with Olivia’s name.

The tragic ending of my past life replayed over and over in my mind.

I curled my lips into a cold sneer and answered the call.

“…Yeah?”

“Scarlett?”

The sound of Olivia’s voice alone filled me with rage.

“What’s up?”

She clearly hadn’t expected such a frigid tone from me. For years, my family had monetarily sponsored Olivia through high school, and I’d always treated her like my best friend.

Still, she recovered quickly, her tone turning sugary and overly enthusiastic.

“I’ve got big news! I’m throwing my graduation party tonight at the Crown Hotel, Scarlett—are you coming?”

“It’s the first fancy event I’ve ever hosted in my whole life, please come and support me. Ethan’s gonna be there too, y’know. It’s been ages since you two last saw each other, hasn’t it?”

I stared down at my newly manicured nails and smiled faintly.

“Sounds good. It’s your big night, after all. Don’t skimp on the food, yeah?”

I hung up the phone, my fists clenching tight at my sides.

Talking about Ethan being out of touch like she knew my boyfriend’s schedule better than I did was nothing but blatant provocation. In my previous life, I’d been convinced Ethan was overseas in Europe learning to take over his family’s business and never questioned his absence.

It turned out the two of them had been traveling the world together in secret, only flying back the day before. Her words were nothing but blatant provocation.

At seven o’clock that evening, I stepped into the Crown Hotel’s grand ballroom right on schedule.

Everything unfolded exactly as it had in my past life. Eighteen tables were laden with rare delicacies—lobster, abalone, vintage fine wines, all laid out in excess. Dazzling ceiling lights cast a decadent glow over the entire venue, setting an air of unbridled opulence.

Olivia glided from table to table in a ridiculously expensive white sundress, Ethan’s arm linked through hers as they made the rounds with their drinks. They laughed and chatted with ease, Olivia leaning into him so possessively that they looked more like a couple announcing their engagement than two people hosting a graduation party.

The second I walked through the door, dozens of eyes drifted toward me, quiet murmurs breaking out across the room.

“Is that Scarlett? She and Olivia are such close friends, I guess she came specially for her.”

“Totally makes sense. The Morettis treat Olivia so well, she’s practically like a second daughter to them.”

“No wonder Ethan’s here then—didn’t people say the two of them have an arranged engagement?”

“Don’t jump to conclusions. When someone brought it up last time, Ethan never confirmed they were dating at all.”

I listened to the chatter and tilted my lips into a hollow smile.

Spotting my arrival, Olivia instantly pulled Ethan forward to greet me, her face lighting up with manufactured delight.

“Oh my gosh, Scarlett, you actually made it!”

She nervously brushed a strand of hair back, clearly flustered, cheeks flushing as she murmured a rushed excuse.

“Don’t get the wrong idea, alright? Ethan was just afraid I’d overdo it with the drinking, so he offered to tag along while I do toasts.”

Ethan’s expression had turned sour the moment he laid eyes on me. He frowned deeply, growing even more displeased after hearing her excuse.

“Scarlett, lay off Olivia.”

I almost laughed outright at their little act and cast back coolly.

“I haven’t even said anything yet.”
