Olivia’s face drained pale as paper, her lips trembling.

“No… that’s not what happened. Ethan told me it was fine.

The Moretti family has so much money anyway—it wouldn’t hurt anyone if I spent a little bit of it.”

“Olivia, there’s no denying my family is wealthy, but that is never an excuse for theft.

If I hadn’t caught on in time, you would’ve run that card straight to its limit.”

With overwhelming evidence stacked against her, Olivia had no more arguments left to make.

Suddenly she snapped her head up and glared at me with pure venom.

“Scarlett, you can’t treat me like this. Ethan will make you pay for what you’ve done!”

She still foolishly believed Ethan was in love with her.

I let out a scoff and twisted the knife in her already shattered hopes.

“I guess no one bothered to tell you-your precious Ethan has been disowned and thrown out of his

family for good.”

The moment those words sank in, Olivia crumpled into total despair.

She slumped back in her chair, her whole body shaking uncontrollably.

It was only now that fear finally set in–but it was far too late.

In the end, the court ruled Olivia guilty of grand larceny and sentenced her to four years in prison.

Ethan was now a man with no family, no status, a total outcast. Olivia was headed to four years

behind bars.

concrete floor.

All at once, I heard footsteps that didn’t belong to me, steadily trailing behind.

I spun around sharply and spotted a familiar figure standing about ten feet away.

I barely recognized him-he’d grown so skeletal he was barely recognizable.

He wore a grimy gray jacket with frayed cuffs, looking like a filthy rat scurrying out of the gutter.

Just two months earlier, he’d been the privileged second son of the Rossi household, cruising

around in sports cars and wearing custom-tailored suits.

I met his eyes.

“Ethan? How did you even get in here?”

“I’ve been waiting for you for a long time.”

His voice was rough and gravelly.

“Scarlett, you’ve destroyed everything I had.”

“You destroyed yourself. Even now, you still refuse to take responsibility for your own actions.”

“Shut up!”

He took a step forward, bloodshot eyes blazing with rage.

“You manipulated my dad into disowning me. Every hardship I’m suffering right now is all your doing, and I’m not gonna let you get away with it.”

I paid him no mind and reached for my phone to call security.

Before I could finish dialing, he lunged forward and swatted it right out of my hand.

“Scarlett, today you pay with your life!”

Sensing he was dangerously unhinged, I wrenched free from his grasp, sprinted to my car, and slammed the doors locked behind me.

Ethan broke into a sudden, unsettling grin that made my blood run cold.

“What do you think you’re doing?”

“What do you think I’m doing?” He tilted his head and stared at me.

“Scarlett, I’m gonna make you experience exactly what it’s like to lose everything you’ve got.’

I settled into the driver’s seat and turned the engine on.

At that moment, Ethan turned and climbed into a separate vehicle nearby.

Its engine roared to life, headlights flaring bright.

Ethan gripped the steering wheel, his face contorted with a reckless urge to take me down with him.

The car accelerated straight toward mine, and I wrenched my steering wheel hard to swerve out of

the way.

I watched the vehicle barrel closer and closer, picking up speed by the second.

Behind the windshield, Ethan’s face flickered in and out of the harsh glow of the headlights.

His mouth hung open, eyes bulging wide, like a predator charging straight for its prey.

I clamped my eyes shut tightly. Would I be doomed to repeat the same tragic fate from my previous life, even after my rebirth?

Then a deafening crash rang out-yet I felt no pain or injury whatsoever.
