Unfaithful Alpha’s Begging After I Left Chapter 10

Unfaithful Alpha’s Begging After I Left Chapter 10

Ethan cared about my moods without being asked. He remembered I couldn’t stand the smell of mint. He knew I needed a glass of warm milk before bed.

He introduced me openly and proudly to every pack member. “This is my mate, Luna Aurora.”

With other she–wolves, he kept a respectful distance. Never crossing any lines.

Whenever he attended gatherings with Alphas from other packs, he always let me know in advance. He’d send messages telling me not to wait up, to rest easy.

His friends all knew who I was. They treated me with genuine respect.

Being treasured like this, being welcomed so naturally into every corner of his life, I had never experienced anything like it in my last mate bond.

After we mated, we planned a proper vacation. Just the two of us. Time to rest and breathe.

We settled on Moonlake Villa.

When we arrived at the lake, I chattered excitedly about walking through the woodland trails nearby. He answered me with a soft smile and gently adjusted my scarf.

The moonlight spilled over us like a silver waterfall as we walked along the shore.

The whole time, he kept me tucked close, shielding me from the occasional thorny branch that snagged at

our path.

When my legs grew tired, we stopped to rest.

He had brought a crêpe with him, tucked away just for me. He insisted we share it.

Laughing, we turned and started walking back along the lake’s edge. That was when I felt it. A gaze from

across the water.

I lifted my eyes. Rhett stood on the opposite shore.

He was staring at us, frozen. Like time had stopped just for him.

Across the shimmering surface of the lake, our eyes met for a fleeting moment.

His gaze shifted, landing on Ethan beside me.

Ethan was focused entirely on finishing the last few bites of the crêpe I hadn’t eaten.

Rhett’s expression flickered. Something like grief passed through his eyes.

But he looked away quickly. He didn’t approach. He didn’t linger.

I looked away too, calm and unhurried. Like I’d merely noticed a stranger passing by.

“You like the berries on the crêpe? I saved them for you. Eat up.”

Ethan held the remaining berries to my lips and took my other hand in his, warm and steady.

I leaned in and bit down. The sweet–tart juice burst across my tongue, the bright fragrance rising up around

me.
My wolf let out a satisfied little howl. I pressed against his side, holding his warm hand.

“I’m so cold. This helps.”

“Ethan, I’m starving. I want a feast!”

He tugged my scarf snug around my neck. “As my Luna commands. Back to the villa, and I’ll cook for you right now.”

“Filet mignon?”

“Perfect. And I want creamed spinach and truffle fries.”

“Done.”

We walked through the villa gates together. Neither of us looked back.

I didn’t notice the gaze that followed us from across the lake.

The past was the past. No need to chase it.

The story of Rhett and me had long since ended.

And the warmth in my hand right now that was the real, tangible present I was willing to hold gently.
