Twelve-Year-Love With An Alpha, He Betrayed Me And Marked An Omega Chapter 06

Carrion’s POV

Nellie used every bit of strength she had to slap me across the face. Then she struggled to sit up and stared at me with hatred in her eyes.

“Carrion, do you know why I wanted to kill Madeline?”

“She told my mother that I was your mistress and provoked her until she had a medical crisis. When my mother needed emergency care, Madeline was the one who stopped me. She made us miss the critical window to save her, and I had to watch my mother die right in front of me.”

“She killed my mother. I’m going to kill her.”

“No. That’s impossible. Madeline isn’t that kind of person.”

I defended Madeline on instinct.

But once I calmed down, unease began to creep in.

I thought back over every detail. Madeline was kind, but it really did not make sense for her, as the Luna, to suddenly appear in Mrs. Vesper’s hospital room.

More importantly, Nellie was Mrs. Vesper’s only daughter. When Nellie was injured, I should have heard Mrs. Vesper react, but I clearly had not heard her voice at all.

Unless Mrs. Vesper had already been…

If Mrs. Vesper had died while Madeline was still in the room, then it made sense that there had been no words of concern from her at the time.

I frowned in irritation.

When Nellie was injured, the situation had been so urgent that I had overlooked too many details.

Now that I thought about it carefully, there were indeed many things that did not add up.

A knock sounded at the door, and I got up to open it.

Madeline suddenly appeared in front of me with a deeply wounded expression.

Her eyes were red, and droplets still clung to her lashes, making her look like a pitiful little rabbit.

My heart softened at once, and even my tone gentled before I realized it.

“Madeline, why are you here?”

Instead of answering, she threw herself into my arms.

“How could I not come? Nellie is accusing me of killing Mrs. Vesper, but I didn’t do it.”

“When Irinda and I came to visit her, we had just reached the door when I accidentally overheard their conversation.”

“Mrs. Vesper planned to fake her own death and frame me for it. That way, you would hate me completely, and Nellie could replace me as Luna and keep enjoying the pack’s best resources.”

“Carrion, I was angry on your behalf. I rushed into the room to confront them, but I never expected Nellie to try to kill me to cover up the truth.”

Madeline clung to my shoulder and sobbed through the story of what she claimed had happened.

So which one of them was telling the truth, Madeline or Nellie?

After hesitating for a moment, I finally wrapped my arms lightly around Madeline and comforted her in a soft voice.

“Everything will be all right. Don’t worry. I’ll find out the truth.”

I looked back at Nellie again.

Would she lie to me?

These were the two loves of my life. One was the girlfriend I had loved for twelve years, and the other was the lover I had cherished for eight.

I truly did not know which one to believe.

Irinda, who had come in behind Madeline, suddenly spoke.

“Alpha, I can testify for Luna Madeline.”

“I really did hear Nellie and her mother discussing how to fake Mrs. Vesper’s death and frame Madeline. The Pack Healer who just came in had also been bribed by Nellie in advance.”

“Mrs. Vesper isn’t dead at all. Nellie moved her somewhere else and hid her.”

“If you don’t believe me, then go look for Mrs. Vesper’s body. The medical center definitely won’t be able to produce it.”

I considered it for a moment, then my gaze returned to Nellie’s face.

“Irinda is right. As long as we confirm whether Mrs. Vesper is truly dead, we’ll know which one of you is lying.”

I immediately called the director of the medical center, put the phone on speaker, and asked for Mrs. Vesper’s body.

The answer I received was not what I expected.

“I’ve checked the morgue list several times, and there is no body listed under Mrs. Vesper’s name. Alpha, are you sure there hasn’t been some mistake?”

I shot upright, my pulse roaring in my ears.

Even Madeline seemed caught off guard by the answer.

The pack doctor had personally pronounced Mrs. Vesper dead.

Yet the medical center couldn’t find her body anywhere.

Then where was Mrs. Vesper?

Who took her?
