The Mate Who Broke My Wolf’s Heart Chapter 06

The Mate Who Broke My Wolf’s Heart Chapter 06

Caden returned to the apartment late at night.

He settled Selena on the couch in the living room and poured her a glass of warm water.

Selena held the cup in both hands, her eyes still red from crying.

“I’m sorry, Caden. This only happened because of me. I caused you and Lyra to end up like this.”

The frustration inside Caden grew heavier.

But he forced himself to calm down.

“Don’t say that. This isn’t your fault.” ·

“It’s Lyra who’s being unreasonable. She was never like this before.”

Selena looked up at him with tear-filled eyes.

“Caden, will you be okay? The Pack Enforcer said there would be consequences…”

Caden let out a cold laugh, completely unconcerned.

“I’m fine. It’s nothing more than a small fine and an official reprimand.”

“This was only a minor Pack dispute. As long as there wasn’t any real damage, it’ll barely matter in

the end.”

“Lyra just wanted to scare us. Once she calms down, I’ll talk to her.”

“I know her. If I just give her a little reassurance and take a step back, she’ll eventually give in like she always does.”

Caden was far too confident in himself.

For years, he had grown used to Lyra’s sacrifices.

He had grown used to her patience, her forgiveness, and the way she always chose to compromise

first.

In his mind, what happened tonight was nothing more than a disagreement that required one person to lower their pride.

And he believed that person would always be Lyra.

The mate bond between them had existed for years. He believed she could never truly walk away.

from him.

Aspecially not now.

Not when she had lost her job.

Not when the entire Pack was talking about her.

In this city, who else would stand beside her?

Who else would accept her after everything that had happened?

“Get some rest first.”

Caden stood up.

“I need to take care of some work.”

He walked into the study, opened his laptop, and logged into the Council Attorney Association system out of habit.

He checked the latest case updates.

Everything looked exactly the same as always.

That only strengthened his belief that Lyra’s resistance was nothing more than an emotional

outburst.

She was angry.

She was hurt.

But she would come back.

She always did.

Caden picked up his phone and sent Lyra a message.

“Lyra, I admit I handled things badly tonight.”

“But I still don’t understand why you’re making this such a big deal. The house was empty. Selena only needed a place to stay for a few days.”

“There was no reason to involve the Pack Enforcer.”
