Caden and Kael stood on either side of Selena, walking her toward the cake.

Kael’s casual voice drifted through the crack in the door.

“By the way, Mira, the facial data you got from Lyra was terrible.”

“Half the details were a pain to fix.”

Mira cut the cake while answering casually.

“Good enough. It worked in the end, didn’t it?”

Caden sat nearby.

His voice carried the relief of someone who believed everything was finally settled.

“That means we finished what Selena asked us to do.”

My mind went completely blank.
