After I reported the incident, I didn’t stay there and wait for the Pack Enforcer to arrive.

I was done with those desperate confrontations.

I was done begging people to believe me when they had already decided I was the one at fault..

I had spent enough time trying to prove my innocence to people who never wanted to hear the truth

I left the old apartment building and walked into a 24-hour convenience store nearby.

The moment I pushed open the door, warm air wrapped around me.

The cold air from the AC mixed with the smell of hot food and cheap coffee.

It was the kind of place I used to avoid.

But tonight, that ordinary atmosphere made me feel something I hadn’t felt in a long time.

Safe.

I sat by the window and looked outside through the glass.

From there, I had a clear view of the entrance to the old apartment building.

It didn’t take long.

A Pack Enforcer vehicle stopped in front of the building.

I quietly watched as the Pack Enforcers stepped out and entered.

About twenty minutes later, loud voices came from the hallway.

I looked up.

Caden and Selena were being escorted out by the Pack Enforcers.

Caden was carrying two suitcases.

They were the belongings Selena had moved in with only recently.

His clothes were still damp from the rain.

As he walked, he kept explaining himself to the Pack Enforcers, his usual calm and composed

expression still fixed on his face.

Behind him, Selena followed closely.

Her head was lowered, and she looked like the one who had been wronged.

When they reached the vehicle, the Pack Enforcer seemed to be informing Caden of the consequences.

I couldn’t hear their conversation through the rain.

But I could see Caden’s expression getting worse and worse.

His eyes swept across the street.

He looked like he was searching for me.

But I was sitting inside the warm convenience store, slowly finishing the last sip of my milk.

Through the gaps in the blinds, I watched as the Pack Enforcer took out the documents.

Caden argued for a long time.

In the end, he had no choice but to sign his name.

The Pack Enforcer then motioned for them to leave immediately.

I waited until their figures disappeared around the corner before standing up.

I took out my phone and booked a room at a budget hotel as far away from Moonridge City as possible.

I needed somewhere quiet.

Somewhere far away, where no one knew my name or my story.

Somewhere I could finally breathe.

And then…

I would take back everything they had taken from me.
