The Last Item on My Alpha’s List Chapter 07

POV: Astra Lane

Three months flew by. My work at the Greywolf Global Reykjavik branch had been going smoothly.

Damon had also sent the $800,000 back to my account, with a note.

[I know you didn’t do it. When are you coming home?]

A late apology held no meaning anymore.

I didn’t reply and threw myself back into work.

One quiet afternoon, the marking ceremony planner called again.

“Ms. Lane, hi-sorry to bother you again. We’re at the point where we need your final measurements for the dress. The designer’s ready to start cutting.”

I was confused. “Didn’t I already cancel the marking ceremony?”

The voice on the other end explained, “Alpha Voss said you two just had a fight and would make up soon. He told us to keep preparing.”

“He’s been super hands-on, honestly-watching every detail from start to finish. You’re a lucky woman.”

Hearing that, I almost laughed out loud.

If being with him truly made me happy, I wouldn’t have left the pack I grew up in.

I replied with absolute seriousness, “Tell Alpha Damon it’s not happening. The ceremony has nothing to do with me. I’m not going.”

With that, I hung up.

But soon, that same number called again.

I picked up, only to find Damon on the other end.

“Astra, what’s the meaning of this?”

“This is our marking ceremony. You have to be there.”

“I’m your mate. What do you take me for?”

I let out a cold laugh.

‘I should be asking you, what do you take me for?”

“I’m not a toy you can put on a shelf and pick up whenever you want. You don’t get to postpone the ceremony

and expect me to wait around, or snap your fingers and have me show up.”

“Stop doing things to make yourself feel like the good guy. I’m done.”

There was a moment of silence, then Damon’s hoarse voice.

“I’ve already given you an out. What more do you want?”

“Where are you? Just come back, okay?”

Damon had gotten used to my unconditional love. That’s why he took me for granted, calling me when he wanted, tossing me aside when he didn’t.

But that was when I loved him.

My voice was eerily calm.

“Damon, listen. We’re done.”

“Don’t ever speak to me in that commanding tone again.”

I hung up before he could say another word.

However, the planner sent an email with a sample image of a wedding dress.

It was the exact design I’d repeatedly asked Damon’s opinion on.

Back then, he always brushed me off. “Just figure it out yourself.”

Now, even though he was offering it on a silver platter, I wouldn’t spare it another glance.

I blocked that email address without a second thought.

These days, I’d landed a huge deal for Greywolf Global, and Alpha Callum was thrilled.

He gave me a whole week off to explore.

The scenery in a foreign land gave me the courage to start over.

But when I walked back to my hotel, I saw Damon coming straight toward me.

I froze for a second, then kept walking.

Damon reached out to stop me.

Astra, how long are you going to keep this up?”

Not wanting to get tangled up, I took two steps back.

“Don’t flatter yourself. I’ve moved on.”

To my surprise, Damon let out a cold laugh.

“Move on? You really think you can be happy without me? Don’t kid yourself.”

He’d always believed I couldn’t live without him, that I’d fall apart.

The truth was, my life was so much fuller without him.

I met his eyes and said it cold.

“Leaving you was the best decision I’ve ever made.”

“Damon Voss, by the Moon Goddess, I, Astra Lane, reject you as my mate.”
