The Last Item on My Alpha’s List Chapter 08

My wolf didn’t react at all.

Damon, on the other hand, clutched his chest and winced in pain.

“Astra, you’re actually rejecting me?”

“Was it the trust fund? I sent back more.”

His hand trembling, he pulled out his phone and transferred me a million dollars.

“Is that enough?”

I was so furious I slapped him across the face.

The air went dead silent.

So silent, I could only hear my own heartbeat.

I thought he’d explode and release his Alpha aura.

But he didn’t.

His tone was light, casual.

“Or something else? Tell me and I’ll explain. Then we move on.”

He was so sure, because we’d fought plenty of times before, and we always made up within a day.

Too bad. Not anymore.

I pulled a bitter smile.

I’ve seen enough to know you’ve changed. I’m not rehashing it-there’s no point.”

“I haven’t!” Damon denied it flat out. “Astra, how can you say I’ve changed? The mate pull between us is so strong, can’t you feel it?”

I burst out laughing and pulled up Mira’s PackNet stories-the ones set to “only me.”

The mate pull between you and her feels even stronger.”

Seeing those provocative captions, Damon’s pupils wavered.

No, that’s not

“Astra, just let me explain.”

I cut him off.

“Save it.”

“Just stop. You’re only embarrassing yourself.”

I didn’t give him another chance to speak, just turned and went upstairs.

Over the next few days, Damon kept circling around downstairs at my place.

He didn’t say a word, just silently watched me leave.

Once upon a time, that would’ve been romantic. Now, it just felt gross.

That day, I got a call from Mira.

Her voice was dripping with humility.

“Astra, please talk to Alpha Voss. I can’t lose this job. I still have my father’s debt.”

“You know how tough my family situation is.”

She’d always been like this. Whenever she messed up, she’d come to me crying, acting all cute, and I’d forgive

her without question.

But time after time, she’d crossed the line for good.

“Mira, you should know by now, we can’t be friends anymore.”

Silence on the other end, then a choked voice. “So you won’t help me?”

This was laughable.

She wasn’t trying to salvage our friendship. She just wanted to save her job.

Hah. So this was what years of friendship looked like, this ugly.

I held on to the last shred of patience.

“That is between you and him. I am done cleaning up your mess.”

Mira let out a cold laugh.

“Then just wish me luck.”

With that, she hung up in a huff.

The next day, I went out to buy groceries, and Damon followed me.

“Astra, I kicked Mira out of Voss Pack Holdings. And I’m never paying off her debts again.”

His voice was trying to be ingratiating, but my face stayed blank.

“That has nothing to do with me.”

Damon stared at me with red eyes.

“You know what? I hate that house without you in it.”

“I can’t do this without you. Come home.”

His voice cracked, like he was the biggest victim here.

I pushed him away, expressionless. “We’re over.”

After that, I ignored his calls and kept walking.

The next day, the old PackChat work channel suddenly got a notice that it was being disbanded.

Turns out, the Pack trade secrets Mira leaked weren’t just from one project.

After barely holding on, Voss Pack Holdings’ funding chain finally snapped, and it was pushed into bankruptcy by a rival PackCorp.

As for what happened to Damon and Voss Pack…

I wasn’t interested.

I left the PackChat and stopped asking around.

My focus now was on re-planning my travel route, heading to the places I’d always wanted to go.

Places without Damon, without Mira.

Just me, moving forward, finding my own path.
