The Last Item on My Alpha’s List Chapter 06

POV: Damon Voss

My mind went completely blank.

Astra blocked me.

“How is that possible…”

I refused to believe it and called a few more times.

The result was the same.

I sent her a message.

[It was just a misunderstanding. You really blocked me over that? Can we just talk?]

The second I hit send, a blocked message notice popped up.

“Astra…”

A clear smile tugged at the corner of Mira’s mouth.

“Looks like Astra’s really mad.”

“I’ll swing by your place tonight and apologize. She’ll forgive me. She always does.”

I didn’t pay attention to her words. My mind was a mess.

The mate bond inside me trembled violently.

The unease kept spreading.

Astra never ignored me for long, and she’d never blocked me before.

I was about to drive home, but Mira got in the car too.

“I’ll apologize to Astra, and she’ll get over it.”

“Damon, I really can’t lose this job.”

grew more and more irritated. I emphasized again.

“My decision is final. No one’s changing it.”

“You went way too far.”

I wanted to dump all my anger on her

On the way home, I stopped to buy a cupcake.

The shop assistant greeted me warmly.

“Alpha Voss, picking up cake for your future Luna again? She’s one lucky lady!”

“The usual-mango, right?”

My heart lurched.

In the past, I’d always grab a mango cupcake for Mira.

But the truth was, the one who loved cupcake the most was Astra.

And she was allergic to mango.

Regret flooded me. I just wanted to make it right, fast.

“Not mango. Make it strawberry.”

The second I walked through the door with the cake, I started apologizing.

“Astra, how could you block me?”

“I was wrong about everything. Mira came all the way here to apologize. Please-don’t be mad.”

“I even brought you a strawberry cupcake.”

But I didn’t catch Astra’s osmanthus scent. Nobody answered.

Uneasy, I pushed open the bedroom door and froze.

The room that used to be packed with her things was now completely empty.

“Astra…”

The cake slipped from my hand and hit the floor.

Mira hurried over and feigned shock. “Astra ran away from home? Over that money?”

“No way!” I raised my voice. “She’s not that unreasonable!”

Mira’s eyes shifted, and she kept talking.

“Maybe she’s going to reject you. I mean, she did tell me once… you and I just make more sense.”

I stared her down, cold.

Her acting was so fake. I don’t know how I ever believed her before.

“Astra would never say that!”

I grabbed her by the shoulders, hard.

“I’m going to find her and get to the bottom of this!”

Just then, the bond ceremony studio called.

“Hello, is this Alpha Voss? I’m the marking ceremony planner Astra Lane hired. I can’t reach her right now.”

“Ms. Lane canceled the marking ceremony. Which account should we refund?”

“Marking ceremony? Refund?” I was stunned.

“Yes. Ms. Lane actually started planning this two years ago. But she called a few days ago to cancel it. She said… well, that the wedding’s off.”

My phone dropped to the floor.

Only at that moment did it truly hit me.

Astra had left me for good.
