The Fake Heiress Took My Name, My Family, and My Fiancé Chapter 06

Mira understood immediately. Her tears dried up, and her face lit up with joy.

Zachary jumped up, but I pushed him back down.

“What’s this? You don’t want to give up Mira as a good marriage pawn, and you don’t want to offend the

Harringtons. So you’re trying to persuade me?”

Richard’s face hardened. “You want the Sullivans to stand up and tell everyone we spent ten years chasing

down a fake? Come on. Besides, you don’t know anything. You haven’t learned a thing.”

“Look at yourself. You don’t belong in this family. You had the ability to find us this whole time, so why didn’t you? Why wait until the Harrington engagement to show up and start trouble? You planned this.”

He slammed the table, glaring at me with anger.

I gave a bitter smile. “Then let me ask you something. The Sullivan estate is in the middle of nowhere, with security everywhere. How does a human trafficker take a risk like that, with all those people around, snatch me, and not even demand a ransom? So tell me. Was me going missing really just an accident?”

Eleanor’s lips trembled. The servants lowered their heads, barely breathing.

“Sage, what are you trying to say? That we got rid of you on purpose and spent years faking it?”

Tears rolled down Eleanor’s face. “If we didn’t want you, we could’ve left you somewhere the day you were

born. Why would we raise you for years?”

Zachary tried to mediate. “Sage, it was my fault. I didn’t watch you. But Mom and Dad had nothing to do with it. All these years, every time they heard a lead, they ran to check. Once, they heard you were taken to some mountain town. I wanted to go, but they insisted on going themselves. They almost died in a mudslide.

Blame me, Sage.”

I pulled my hand away from Zachary and laughed lightly. “You’ve all got it wrong. I’m not blaming anyone. I don’t hate anyone either. But I am going to find out what really happened back then.”

“And how Mira pulled off stealing my life. My master told me something once. ‘A thief. A backstabber. A walking disaster.”

A few words. Everyone’s face changed.

Zachary looked at Mira coldly. “You still haven’t told us. How did you actually pull this off? How’d you

pretend to be Sage?”

Mira went pale. She stammered, and only when they threatened to call the police did she finally confess.

“I grew up in a group home. There was a psych ward next door. The director used to pay us to clean it. There

was this woman in there, totally out of her mind, just rambling all day.”

“I figured out she used to be the Sullivan family’s nanny. After the little girl disappeared, they fired her. Her

husband beat her until she snapped.”

“So I picked up a lot from her. Then one day, I saw the locket at some random street vendor. And I just… got

greedy.”

Richard sent people to check. Sure enough, the nanny who’d raised me had been in that hospital, but she’d died in an accident two days ago.

Because of my master’s fortune, Zachary demanded Mira move out. But Eleanor had grown attached over

the years.

Seeing them turn me into the villain forcing a separation, I spoke up. “I’m not staying here. I’ve got more than enough money. I already bought the house next door. So don’t bother me unless you actually need

something.”
