The Fake Heiress Took My Name, My Family, and My Fiancé Chapter 05

The Fake Heiress Took My Name, My Family, and My Fiancé Chapter 05

Seeing my frown, the man quickly explained.

“Three years ago, my company went bankrupt. I was drowning in debt. I drove up Mount Alder in the middle

of the night, ready to end it all.”

“You and Master Silas pointed me in the right direction. You said I had to go through the hard part, but after

that, things would get easier. Told me to walk three miles west down the mountain, and I’d run into someone

who’d save my life.”

“I’ve been trying to find Master Silas ever since, just to say thank you. But the guy’s always kept a low profile, traveling, staying off the radar. I never got the chance. Never thought I’d bump into you here of all places.”

I finally recognized him. My face relaxed. “Don’t worry about it. You ran into me and my master for a reason.

It wasn’t your time. Just try to be a good person from here on out.”

The crowd buzzed with whispers. “That’s Thomas Dawson from Dawson Group, isn’t it?”

“When his company went under, I heard he saved some old billionaire and skyrocketed.”

“The Master Silas he mentioned, that’s not the legendary Master Silas Kane, is it?”

The name Master Silas Kane brought burning stares from every direction.

Richard rushed over. “Sage, are you seriously Master Silas Kane’s last student?”

Harold’s face went sour. Master Silas Kane’s weight was more than ten Harringtons could match. To make an enemy of his disciple for the sake of Derek’s so-called true love, that he would not do.

Patricia knew it too. She looked at Mira with obvious distaste.

Zachary pulled Richard aside. “Dad, what’s your deal? So what if Sage doesn’t have some connection to Master Silas? You’re really gonna turn your back on her and let someone else walk away with everything that

should be hers?”

Eleanor tried to calm things down. “Zachary, that’s your father. Show some respects!”

Zachary didn’t even look at her. He just turned to me, worried. “Sage, just tell me what you want. I’ve got your

back.”

I glanced at Mira’s twisted face and smiled. “How about you go ahead and finish the engagement?”

The engagement didn’t go on, of course. The Harringtons could push the Sullivans to abandon a penniless

biological daughter, but they wouldn’t dare offend the last disciple of Master Silas Kane.

No matter how much Derek loved Mira, he knew this wasn’t simple anymore.

A grand engagement party ended in a quiet fizzle.

I moved into the Sullivan house as I’d wanted. Richard and Eleanor looked at me fawningly.

“Sage, it’s so good to have you home. We put you in the biggest room, the one facing north. Lila’s getting it ready. If you don’t like it, just say the word and we’ll change it.”

Mira shot up. “Mom, that’s my room!”

“Shut your mouth!” Richard snapped. “Who told you that room was yours? It’s my daughter’s. You’re nothing but a fake, and now you want to go toe-to-toe with Sage over it?”

Mira’s eyes reddened. She looked at me with hate.

I couldn’t be bothered with this pathetic drama. “So now the Sullivans have two daughters. How exactly are

you planning to spin this to the public?”

Richard and Eleanor exchanged a look. Eleanor answered. “Sage, the group has a very important project right now. Reputation matters. It’s not easy to admit we made a mistake.”

“So how about this, we tell everyone you’re fraternal twins. You’re the older sister, Mira’s the younger. And the

engagement with the Harringtons goes to Mira, okay?”
