The Fake Heiress Took My Name, My Family, and My Fiancé Chapter 04

“Here. Take a look. You left your samples at Mercy General back when you were searching for me. Anyone with a decent lead could walk in and request a DNA test. When Mira showed up, you were so relieved you completely forgot about that. This is mine, just got it done. Mercy General is owned by the Sullivans, so don’t even try to say I faked it.”

Science mattered these days. I wasn’t going to convince them with a few words. That’s why I prepared the test ahead of time. I thought I wouldn’t need it, but here we were.

My parents rushed to look. I’d done three tests, with Richard, Eleanor, and Zachary. Every single one proved I was their biological daughter and sister.

“No way!” Mira turned white and stepped back. “That’s impossible! I’m the Miss Sullivan! Who the hell are you?”

Just then, Richard’s phone rang. He answered. A nervous, anxious voice came through, loud enough for everyone to hear.

“Mr. Sullivan, a young woman just picked up three DNA test results from Mercy General. The report shows she’s the real Sullivan heiress. And she said her name is Sage Sullivan.”

Everyone in the room froze.

Guests whispered. “What’s going on? How are there two people with DNA tests claiming to be the Sullivan?”

“Yeah, I never heard they were twins.” “She actually looks a lot like Mrs. Sullivan when she was young.”

Mira felt the stares. She looked around, tried to grab Zachary’s hand, but he silently pulled away.

Seeing Richard and Eleanor stay quiet, Mira turned tearfully to Derek. “Derek, it’s our engagement day. Don’t you believe me either?”

Derek looked at her with pity, wiping her tears in a panic. “Mira, don’t cry. You’re the only one I want. If I can’t marry you, I don’t want anyone.”

Mira was so touched she sobbed into his shoulder.

Derek looked at his parents. Patricia sighed, tugged Harold’s sleeve, but said nothing.

With three DNA tests and Mira’s evasive attitude, the truth was obvious. But Derek was determined to protect her. And this engagement was the Sullivans begging the Harringtons for a spot in their new project.

Harold took a breath, walked over to Richard, and said, “Look, I’ve only got one son, Derek.”

“Everything we have goes to him eventually. So yeah, I want him to marry someone he actually loves. Same social circle? Sure, that’d be nice. But it’s not a dealbreaker. Here’s what I will say, though, if this engagement falls apart, we both know who’s gonna take the bigger hit.”

Richard understood. He looked at Eleanor. She hesitated. “Mira has always been sweet and easy to love. These five years, I’ve treated her like my own daughter…”

Zachary stared at them in disbelief. “Dad! Mom! What are you saying? Sage is your daughter. My sister. We lost her. She suffered all those years. Someone else took everything that should have been hers. And now that she’s finally back, you say this?”

Richard and Eleanor didn’t answer.

Then a guest frowned. “This girl looks familiar.” Then his eyes went wide. He hurried over to me, all excited. “Wait, I remember! Master Silas Kane. Is he here with you in Crestwood?”
