The Fake Heiress Took My Name, My Family, and My Fiancé Chapter 03

The Fake Heiress Took My Name, My Family, and My Fiancé Chapter 03

The Sullivan business had been booming for years, and plenty of people had tried to claim the lost heiress. Some even bribed old servants for any scrap of information. So when Mira showed up, even with the locket and the marks, they still did the DNA test.

My father thought more strategically. He looked suspicious. “Young lady, who sent you here? Why did you pick today of all days? What’s your real goal?”

I found it absurd. Just then, Derek’s parents came out.

The moment I saw Derek, I frowned. “You’re the one who brought Mira to the Sullivans, aren’t you?”

Everyone stared at Derek. His mother, Patricia, crossed her arms. “What liar? Derek didn’t even meet Mira until after she was found. Stop with the crazy talk.”

I studied Derek and Mira’s faces, then smiled. “A lake. Trees everywhere. Birds. Northwest side of town. A four-way intersection. That’s where you two first met, isn’t it? Your connection lines put it within thirty miles. So that’s Lakeview Park at Mercer Island. Am I wrong?”

Derek’s father, Harold, was about to scold me, but he saw his son looking down silently.

“Derek, what the hell is going on?”

Derek didn’t answer. I smiled. “I lucked out. Somebody found me and taught me how to see things. You want me to keep talking? I can. Just know that whatever comes out next? You’re not gonna want it in front of all these people.”

Derek panicked. “Fine! Yes, I brought Mira to the Sullivans.”

“Derek, what the hell!” Patricia grabbed his arm. “Why didn’t you ever tell us this?”

Derek glanced uncomfortably at Mira. “I was just passing through. Mira latched onto my arm and wouldn’t let go. She kept saying she was the Sullivan heiress, even pulled out that jade locket to show me. It looked legit, so I figured, why not? Took her over. Helped her out.”

Then his tone turned defensive. “So what if I helped her? The DNA test already says Mira’s the real deal. And this girl? She’s nobody. Maybe she found out I helped Mira somehow and now she’s here to cause trouble. Honestly? I think she’s full of it.”

I frowned. The people in front of me looked chaotic. Maybe because of the calamity, my usually sharp reading felt foggy. Especially between Mira and Derek, something about their connection looked wrong. Hazy. Like two threads twisted together that shouldn’t be.

“Full of it?” I sighed and shook my head slowly. “Honestly, I didn’t want to go this far.”

I reached into my bag, pulled out an envelope, and tossed it to Zachary.

The words “DNA paternity test results” made everyone’s faces change.
