The Don’s Reborn Lover Chapter 11

Bang! 

Sebastian burst in with Mr. Miller, the dean of 

students, and walked in on that exact scene. 

From their angle, it looked like we were kissing. 

Mr. Miller was an old–school hardliner who couldn’t 

stand students fooling around on campus. Now that he 

had finally caught someone in the act, his face turned 

red with excitement as he bellowed, “Cross! Vance! 

What do you think you’re doing? Step away from each 

other right now!” 

Mr. Miller marched Adrian and me out into the hallway 

and made us stand there. 

“Isn’t that the top student and Adrian? They’re both 

good kids. Why are they standing in the hall?” 

“I heard Mr. Miller caught them alone in the equipment room.” 

“Wait, seriously? They actually messed around at 

school?” 

“But they look so good together!” 

I was speechless. Mr. Miller wouldn’t listen to a word of 

my explanation. How was I this unlucky? 

Adrian leaned against the wall, relaxed and clearly in a 

good mood. 

“This rumor got this bad because of you.” 

“Yeah, my fault.” 

With a miserable look on my face, I said, “I’ve been the 

good girl, honor–roll type my whole life. Now I’m 

getting written up and detention. The worst part is, if 

this gets back to my dad…” 

“Adrian, since this is your fault, you’re fixing it.” 

“Okay.” 

Adrian looked at me and smiled. 

“Elena, you finally seem like yourself again.” 

“You’ve seemed so weighed down lately. It’s had me 

worried.” 

I froze. 

I hadn’t expected him to notice anything was off about 

me. 

“I’m fine. You’re overthinking it.” 

“That’s good.” 

At Monday morning assembly, Mr. Miller called us up 

to the stage. 

“Mr. Cross, Miss Vance, please explain to the student 

body what exactly you were doing in the equipment 

room.” 

I took the note Adrian handed me, the speech he had 

written for me ahead of time. Because I trusted the top 

student too much, and because I had zero desire to 

write something myself, I went up there without even 

reading it first. 

“My name is Elena Vance. I’m a senior.” 

“Last Friday afternoon, Mr. Cross and I were in the 

equipment room. Yes, the door was locked. However, 

according to page twenty–four of the student 

handbook, only ‘inappropriate physical contact‘ in a non–instructional area constitutes a disciplinary 

violation.” 

“But we did not engage in any inappropriate physical contact. Also, that rule applies to minors. Yesterday 

was my birthday. I am now a legal adult.” 

Laughter and whistles broke out below the stage. 

“Elena is savage!” 

“Exactly. Adults can do whatever they want!” 

Adrian really was a genius. At first glance, the speech sounded like an apology. But if you read closely, every word was exploiting a loophole in the school rules 

while also implying that there really was something going on between us. 

The rumor mill was only going to get worse. 

I stumbled through the rest of it, then glared at Adrian. 

He lifted his eyes to me calmly, not the least bit guilty. 

Then it was his turn to step forward. 

“My name is Adrian Cross. I’m a senior.” 

He paused. 

“Elena Vance and I did not have inappropriate physical 

contact, because I still haven’t won her over.” 

Then he stepped off the stage. 

The whole student body exploded. 

“Adrian’s a legend!” 

“Go get her! We’re rooting for you!” 

I pressed a hand to my forehead. Eighteen–year–old 

Adrian Cross was a lunatic too. 

After the assembly, Sebastian dragged me up to the 

rooftop. 

“Elena, get Adrian to give me the physics competition spot, okay?” 

“Why would he listen to me?” 

“If you ask, he’ll say yes. 

“Sebastian, I can’t do that.” 

Sebastian grabbed my shoulders, his expression almost twisted. 

“I already told Dad I was going to compete. He’s been bragging to the whole family that I’m going to win and basically lock in my spot at North Shore University. If he finds out I lied to him, he’ll beat me to death.” 

“Elena, help me.” 

I played along and said, “Fine. I’ll ask him. If he says. 

no, there’s nothing I can do.” 

Satisfied, Sebastian left. 

Then Adrian stepped out from behind the wall and 

looked at me. 

I went still. He had heard everything.
