The Don’s Reborn Lover Chapter 02

The Don’s Reborn Lover Chapter 02

The baseball bat stopped inches from my forehead.

The second our eyes met, the viciousness in his stare dragged me straight back to my last life, to the days when Adrian had kept me locked up and used me as his sex slave.

At night, he kissed me like a madman, forced my legs apart with his knee, and did nothing but pound into me.

I could never handle his endless appetite. I’d end up sobbing, begging him to go easier, my legs wrapped tightly around his waist.

He would just take off his cochlear implant so he didn’t have to hear me and keep doing whatever he wanted.

All I could do was helplessly rake my nails down his back.

He liked it when I did that. It only made him crazier.

He would kiss away my tears, let out a low laugh, and say, “We do it this many times every day, so how are you still not used to it?”

Because he was terrible in bed.

He also had an absurd sex drive, with stamina that never seemed to run out.

Those memories were carved into my bones. I instinctively took a step back, and then realized with a jolt that my panties were wet.

Adrian stared straight at me. Something trembled in those dark eyes before he lowered the bat.

He grabbed my wrist and yanked me closer, his voice icy. “Elena Vance, you really will do anything to protect your brother.”

Pain shot through me, and I sucked in a sharp breath.

Blood started seeping slowly through the sleeve where he was gripping my arm.

Adrian noticed something was wrong and pushed up my sleeve.

Bloody lash marks covered my arm.

He yanked open the collar of my shirt, and my back was covered in scars too.

Adrian’s eyes went red. He looked even angrier than he had when Sebastian was bullying him, and there was panic in that fury too.

“Who did this?”

That was the moment I truly knew I had come back.

Just like in my last life, the instant someone hurt me, Adrian wanted to kill them.

I stared at him blankly.

He must have thought he’d scared me, because his voice softened. “Elena, tell me who did this. Your father’s one of the most respected business titans on the North Shore. Who would dare lay a hand on you?”

Sebastian shoved Adrian hard.

“Don’t touch my sister!”

Adrian seized Sebastian by the shoulder, twisted his arm behind his back, and ground out through clenched teeth, “Was it you?”

Then Adrian caught sight of the welts peeking out from beneath Sebastian’s collar too.

“The hell does it have to do with you? Get off me!”

Sebastian jerked free and dragged me away with him.

When I looked back, Adrian’s fists were clenched tight.

He was staring at me, his eyes full of fury and heartache.

Adrian Cross.

This time, I’m going to stand on your side.

On this day in my last life, my brother beat Adrian so badly he lost his hearing.

Adrian refused to settle. He insisted on pressing charges against Sebastian.

“Elena, Adrian Cross is a disgusting psycho. He was taking upskirt shots of Claire, so I stepped in and taught him a lesson.”

“I didn’t mean to deafen him. It was all an accident.”

“I don’t want to go to jail. Elena, please go talk to him for me and get him to let this go. Okay?”

Claire was my best friend.

She had a crush on my brother, so she backed up his lie.

One was my best friend, and one was my brother. In my last life, I believed both of them, and I went to the hospital to ask Adrian to settle.

In the hospital room, Adrian had bandages wrapped around his head. His face was pale, and even in his sleep, his brow was drawn tight in pain.

When I imagined what it would feel like to be beaten deaf, my heart ached for him.

And the SAT was right around the corner. He had suddenly lost his hearing so badly that he couldn’t even hear his teachers in class anymore.

With grades like his, he should have been ranked first in our year and standing onstage at graduation giving the valedictorian speech.

That is, if he could still hear.

I realized then that showing up to ask Adrian to drop the charges was selfish and despicable.

So I turned to leave.

“Elena.”

He was awake.

“Come here.”

I lowered my head and walked to his bedside, nervously picking at the plush keychain hanging from my bag.

After hesitating for a long time, I pulled out my bank card and wrote on a note, [Adrian, there’s $300,000 on this card. It’s all the allowance I’ve saved up. Take it and get the cochlear implant surgery.]

After reading it, Adrian smiled.

“Not enough…”
