Something inside me finally snapped.

Without thinking, I lunged and clawed at his face.

Draven’s cheek was left with several bloody scratches.

“Are you crazy?”

He kicked me in the knee.

The two bodyguards rushed over and twisted my arms behind my back.

A crack echoed as they brutally broke my arm. A metallic taste filled my mouth.

I coughed up blood, spraying it across Draven’s face.

Everything went black, and I collapsed.

Draven was clearly startled. He stepped back and wiped the blood from his face. “Take her to the hospital…”

I woke up in a hospital, chained to the bed by iron shackles.

I didn’t eat, didn’t drink, didn’t speak. I just stared at the ceiling, motionless.

Suddenly, I heard excited chatter from outside the door.

“Tomorrow, the Alpha of Blackthorne Pack is getting engaged! I heard he’s spending a hundred million dollars on a grand mating ceremony!”

“Oh my god, that woman is so lucky!”

“I know, right? I heard he’s marrying the princess of Moonveil Pack.”

“They make such a handsome couple. Perfect together.”

My nails dug deep into my palms. Blood dripped between my fingers.

At that exact moment, Draven and Nadia’s engagement party was in full swing at the resort.

The banquet hall was buzzing with noise. A crowd of socialites clinked glasses and laughed.

A minor influencer held up his phone, livestreaming to his audience.

“Hey guys, this is the resort Blackthorne Pack spent a billion dollars building! I heard a single vacation here costs over a million!”

As he walked and filmed, he accidentally turned down a secluded path.

At the end of the path stood a pitch black door.

This door looked nothing like the rest of the resort.

No windows. No lawn. Just black walls, gloomy and ominous, like a tomb.

“Guys, look, there’s a broken door here. I’ve got to go in and see what treasure Blackthorne Pack is hiding.”

The comments exploded.

[Go in! Go in!]

[Maybe Blackthorne Pack is hiding something valuable!]

[You’ve got some nerve, man!]

The influencer pushed the door. It was locked.

He stepped back two paces and kicked it hard.

The door swung open.

A putrid stench assaulted his nostrils.

He covered his nose. “Damn, what’s that smell?”

The comments went wild.

[What is that?]

[Dead rats?]

[Go inside already!]

The influencer held his breath and walked deeper inside.

Rows of steel bars reinforced with welded metal stood before him, like a cage meant to trap someone.

Dried blood stained the floor. Scratch marks covered the walls.

He aimed his phone at a corner.

There was something there. Very small. Curled up, motionless.

“What… what is that?”

He moved his phone closer.

The comments paused for a second.

Then they exploded like wildfire.

[It’s a face!!!]

[Oh my god, that’s a face!]

[Is it a doll? Please tell me it’s a doll!]

[That’s not a doll! Look closer! It’s real!]

The influencer’s hands began to shake. He focused his phone on the face.

It was covered in blood and grime, lips purple, eyes shut tight.

A little girl.

He reached out a hand and placed it under her nose.

No breath.

He yanked his hand back and fell to the ground. “Call the police… Someone call the police…”

The engagement party was reaching its peak when a group of police officers stormed in.

Draven frowned and set down his glass. “What’s going on?”

An officer walked up to him and said gravely, “We received an online report that there’s a dead body inside your resort.”

Draven laughed. “Impossible. My resort just opened. We don’t even have a full guest list. Where would a dead body come from?”

Nadia held his arm and said sweetly, “Officer, you must be mistaken. Today is our engagement day. Don’t ruin the moment.”

“Someone is obviously trying to sabotage our resort. Don’t fall for it.”

The officer ignored her. “Please cooperate with the investigation.”

Suddenly, Draven’s heart sank.

He remembered that face streaked with tears.
