The Deceived Luna Chapter 03

The Deceived Luna Chapter 03

When it was over, I lay on the floor.

There was blood at the corners of my mouth, and pain everywhere.

I stared at the ceiling as tears streamed down my face.

But I still forced myself up and pulled my clothes back on, one item at a time.

Full of hope, I asked, “Can you let us out now?”

The bodyguard laughed. “The Alpha said only one at a time.”

I froze. “What?”

He said coldly, “Only one can leave at a time. You, or your daughter.”

He glanced at the child in my arms and sneered. “She has to walk out on her own.”

I was speechless.

Grace couldn’t even stand. She couldn’t even open her eyes.

“Then carry her out, please. She’s so light, just pick her up…”

The bodyguard kicked me aside. “Enough talk. Either she walks, or she dies here. Your choice.”

I looked at my daughter.

She still lay there, tiny, curled into a small ball.

I gritted my teeth, ran to the corner, scooped up my daughter, and charged for the exit.

A club slammed into the back of my head.

Everything went black.

When I woke up, I was still in the room.

My daughter was still in my arms.

For the next while, I tried everything to get out.

I bit at the chains until my mouth was full of blood. I threw myself against the door until my head was bruised.

Every time, they caught me.

Every time, they beat me harder.

My daughter woke up once.

Her eyes opened just a sliver. She looked at me.

Her voice was faint, so small and weak.

“Mommy, I’m so tired.”

“Mommy, my whole body hurts.”

“Mommy, I don’t think I can stay with you anymore… I’m sorry, Mommy.”

Then her eyes closed.

I called her name like a madwoman.

“Grace! Grace, open your eyes! Look at Mommy! Don’t sleep! Mommy will get you out! Grace!”

My daughter’s small body lay in my arms.

My hands trembling, I reached under her nose. No breath.

My heart shattered into pieces.

I didn’t know if half a day, a full day, or two days had passed.

I couldn’t tell day from night anymore.

I just held her, calling her name over and over, singing the nursery rhymes she loved most.

Then, a sound came from the door. I looked over with hollow eyes.

It was Draven.

I hated him.

I grabbed a stick from the floor and threw it at him.

“Draven! You killed my daughter!”

Draven froze. When he saw the unmoving child in my arms, a flicker of confusion crossed his face.

Nadia stood beside him and spoke. “Isolde, Draven and I came to check on you out of kindness. And here you are letting Grace play pretend again?”

I screamed. “Nadia! Grace is dead! She’s dead! Are you happy now?”

“Are you satisfied?”

Nadia’s eyes reddened instantly. “Isolde, how can you think that of me?”

“All our lives, you bullied me, just because you were the princess with Alpha blood and I was adopted. Your daughter is just like you, pushing me down the stairs. My leg was nearly ruined.”

“Draven and I just wanted you to know what it felt like to be bullied. We didn’t mean to hurt you. We just… wanted you to change.”

Her voice softened, thick with feigned grievance. “Three meals a day were delivered. Someone was hired to look after you. It’s not like you suffered. How can you accuse me like this?”

I stared at Nadia, unblinking. “You’re lying.”

“Nadia, you’ll die a horrible death.”

Draven roared. “Enough! Isolde! Shut up!”

“Nadia came to see you out of kindness, and you’re still as arrogant as ever. Unbelievable!”
