The Alpha Willfully Let His Beta Slay My Wolf Chapter 04

The Alpha Willfully Let His Beta Slay My Wolf Chapter 04

The finality in my voice does not move him.

Cassian releases that condescending laugh he uses when challenged at council.

Understanding dawns. His hands find my waist, pulling me back.

“Enough. My error. I did not consider it properly.”

“Tonight, I call finance. You receive a no-limit platinum card. Buy as you wish, no approvals. Agreed?”

He tilts his head, lips brushing my temple.

“The Luna seal Vera holds? Yours by noon tomorrow. Serve as finance officer for a week, if you like.”

“All wolf medical expenses? Approved personally. From my private reserves.”

“There. Settled. Seraphine, I am exhausted. Half the night wasted on your moods.”

“Be good. You shall have all your heart desires.”

For two years, this act worked.

For a stubborn Alpha, this is lowering himself.

Each time he dipped his chin and offered warmth, I melted with gratitude.

The script no longer plays.

My wolf is dead.

His credit card. The Luna seal Vera likely kissed for luck. I want none of it.

His closeness feels like drowning in shallow water.

“Cassian, keep it all.”

I evade his kiss, voice hollow. “I came to sever the bond. Nothing more.”

Cassian goes rigid.

Reality strikes. I am not performing for attention. Not manipulating.

I am leaving.

The loving Alpha mask shatters. The dictator emerges.

Alpha pressure drops ten degrees.

“Seraphine, cease this act. Where would you go?”

“You are an Omega with a ruined wolf spirit. Without my protection, you are a rogue awaiting slaughter.”

“Without the pack’s treatment, your body fails within twenty-four hours.”

He strokes my hair as if petting a hound.

“I protect you here. Do not force my hand. I shall wait until you regain sense.”

Of course.

He “protects” me.

Protects me from power. Protects my wolf into suffocation while he courts his Beta.

I know a rogue’s fate.

Ambushed by rival packs. Hunted by trackers. Dying nameless in the wild.

But remaining here is no different.

My soul already rots.

I would rather bleed under open sky than be a polished ornament in his home, watching his romance with another.

I zip the duffel, sling it over my shoulder, and walk for the exit without looking back.

“Then I shall die free.”

Cassian stands frozen.

He never imagined this. Seraphine, the docile Omega who scheduled her life around him, departing.

But he does not follow.

Pride and Alpha instinct insist this is an elaborate tantrum.

It is not until the door slams that restlessness gnaws at him.

He shoves hands into his jacket. Fingertips brush something smooth and cold.

The frostbone fang pendant I carved for his birthday over weeks.

No income. No funds. I found the fang and carved it myself.

Beside the shadow-deer leather and silver-crown clocks Vera flooded his office with, it is laughable.

Yet he wears it daily.

Cassian clutches the fang until his palm stings, recalling Vera’s earlier text.

“Alpha, she fishes for attention. I have seen this ‘runaway’ act countless times.”

“Do not chase. Let her taste it. Let her learn life without your coin.”

“Twenty-four hours. She will return, begging forgiveness.”

Cassian squeezes the frostbone fang. Its edge bites into his palm, drawing blood.

Yes. Vera is right.

Seraphine cannot leave him.

He forces a long breath, willing his shoulders to relax.

Very well, Seraphine. Stage your little flight.

When you return tomorrow, battered, starving, devoured by reality, I shall teach you precisely how favored you were beneath my roof.

You will swear upon your life to never think of “severance” again.
