The $100 Humiliation- Watching My Broke Ex Stare at My Billionaire Husband Chapter 04

A week later, Pierce showed up at the convenience store alone.

I thought he was here for condoms again, so I automatically grabbed his usual brand.

He didn’t take it. He just looked at me. “Lila, let’s talk.”

We went to a fancy five-star restaurant nearby.

Pierce ordered spicy chicken— my old favorite.

“I don’t eat spicy food anymore,” I said.

Pierce smiled.

“You used to love it. Why stop now?”

“Trying to please your new boyfriend?”

I looked down. “My stomach’s just been upset lately.”

He didn’t push it and ordered mild dishes instead.

When the food came, Pierce asked me.

“Regret breaking up with me?”

“You never lived this hard when you were with me.”

“He doesn’t treat you well, does he?”

I didn’t answer.

He smiled.

“Okay, I get it.

I was your first love. You were with me before you even graduated. You don’t have much experience, you’re naive. It’s normal you made a stupid choice.”

“So some guy says sweet words and you fall for it.”

“But life isn’t a fairy tale.”

“You saw what happened when you left me. Look how you’re living now.”

“Six a.m. to ten p.m. shifts, two hours commuting, crowded subways, standing all day, stupid little chores.”

“Your roommate’s my mistress now. She lives great— thirty thousand a month allowance. I gave you more than that.”

“That life was supposed to be yours.”

“This is your last chance, Lila. Do you want to get back together?”

I was quiet for a long time.

Finally, I looked up. “Mr. Pierce, I’m not like you. I take relationships seriously.”

Pierce sneered. “Oh, so you really love him that much?”

Just then, I accidentally bit into a piece of fatty meat.

The greasy taste shot up my throat, and I felt nauseous.

I clapped a hand over my mouth and gagged.

Pierce poured me a water slowly, half-joking. “Why such a strong reaction? You’re not having morning sickness, are you?”

My fingers tightened around the glass.

He leaned closer. “Now that I look, your stomach’s a little bigger than before.”

“Lila, I never wore protection with you. You didn’t get pregnant behind my back, did you?”

My whole body went stiff. My temples throbbed.

But I calmed down quickly.

I drank slowly. “No.”

He stared at me, his eyes unreadable. “Really no?”

I took a deep breath.

“Pierce, you’re so full of yourself.”

“Even if I were pregnant, I would never keep your baby.”

Pierce froze. His face turned ugly.

He gritted his teeth.

“Fine. You’re brave.”

“Then I’ll tell you— your face is exactly my type. I did fall for your photos at first sight.”

“But the one who talked to me, who stayed up with me through my insomnia… that was Lynn.”

“Maybe she’s the one I really love.”

With that, he left in a cold fury.

He didn’t come to the store for condoms that day.

I breathed a sigh of relief.

But right before closing, at nearly ten p.m., my manager called.

Pierce had placed a delivery order— and he wanted me to bring his usual ultra-thin condoms to his place personally.

I hesitated. “Can I not go?”

My manager sounded stressed. “We don’t have anyone else to cover.”

I closed my eyes and agreed.

I went to the address my manager gave me— Pierce’s house.

When the door opened, Lynn stood there in a skimpy camisole.

She wasn’t wearing shoes. When she saw what I was holding, she laughed.

“Pierce, you forgot to buy them again? You had to order delivery? I thought I could take a break today. You’re so bad.”

Pierce leaned against the living-room door, grinning at me. He said to her.

“How many times do I have to tell you? Don’t walk around barefoot.”

Lynn pouted. “Then put my socks on for me.”

Pierce laughed.

He carried her to the couch, knelt down, held her bare feet gently, and slid socks onto them.

I thought I saw she wasn’t wearing anything under her skirt.

I looked away.

When he finished, Pierce said to her.

“Go take a shower. Wait for me clean.”

Lynn stuck out her tongue cutely. “Okay, got it.”

She turned and went to the bathroom.

I held out the condoms to Pierce and turned to leave.

But he grabbed my wrist first. “Add me back on WeChat.”

I lost it. “Are you crazy?”

“Pierce, we broke up.”

He smiled, but his eyes were cold.

“Lila, this isn’t a request.”

“You know I can ruin you if you don’t obey.”

I pressed my lips together.

I knew he could.

In the end, I gave in. I took out my phone and added him back against my will.

He saved my number with satisfaction.

“If you ever need anything, you can call me anytime.”

I watched the quiet joy in his eyes.

I didn’t understand.

What was this? Hit me then sweet-talk me?

By the time I headed home, it was late.

This was a quiet, upscale neighborhood. Few people were out. Only the yellow streetlights stretched my shadow thin and long.

I walked fast, but my heart raced for no reason. I felt a sticky gaze burning into my back.

I thought I was being followed.

Was it just my imagination?

At the crosswalk, I stopped short and turned around.

In the shadow of an alley stood a creepy middle-aged man.

He’d been coming into the store lately, staring at my chest every time he checked out.

He grinned at me, his eyes wandering between my legs. “Little girl, out alone this late? Lonely? Come to uncle’s house.”

My heart dropped. I ran.

One of my heels fell off. My ankle scraped against the curb, sharp pain shooting up my leg— but I didn’t stop.

Panicked, I fumbled for my phone and dialed Pierce’s private number over and over.

It wouldn’t connect.

On the fifth try, he finally picked up.

I was almost in tears. “Pierce, someone’s following—”

His voice was teasing on the line.

“Lila, you’re doing this on purpose, aren’t you? Calling while I’m busy.”

“Trying to make it more fun for me?”

“Sorry, I don’t have time right now.”

He hung up before I could finish.

In that moment, my blood turned to ice.

And in that moment, I made up my mind.

I was getting an abortion.
