Ten Years of Love Ended in the Delivery Room Chapter 07

Gwen slipped her arm through Damon’s and went on, “Damon, can’t you see? Kaley never wanted

to have your baby.”

“Her difficult labor was all an act. She planned this whole thing just to take the baby and leave you.”

“She never loved you. How else could she be so cruel to you?”

Damon’s pupils shrank sharply.

He jerked his arm away and snapped at her, “She doesn’t love me? How dare she not love me?”

“I don’t care what tricks she uses or where she hides. I will bring her back.”

“She’s mine until her last breath and after. She doesn’t get to love anyone else. It’s me or no one.”

Gwen watched him, a flash of jealousy in her eyes. “Damon, you can’t force someone to love you. She’s already done this to you. Why won’t you let her go?”

“I love you. I’ll give you as many babies as you want I’ll treat you right and take care of this family.”

“You once said you’d give me anything I want. Now want to be your wife. Will you give that to

me?”

Damon refused her flatly, “Never. No matter what Kaley has done, I will never divorce her. You’re

just a mistake I made, one that can never be brought into the light.”

Gwen’s eyes shifted from shock to resentment. She opened her mouth to argue.

Victoria’s sharp voice cut her off. “Enough! Since when has the Garner family let people like you

waltz in?”

“Damon, are you blind? You’re still fooled by this woman after everything!”

Victoria stepped in front of Gwen and looked down at her. “I’ve already checked with the hospital.

Our grandchild is gone. Kaley only took the baby’s body!”

Victoria’s voice cracked with tears.

She raised her hand and slapped Damon hard across the face. “Kaley is such a wonderful woman. She was carrying your child, suffering through that nightmare in the delivery room-and you

protected this homewrecker!”

She turned and slapped Gwen just as hard. “How dare you trample all over her like that and kill my

grandchild!”

Gwen held her stinging cheek, wincing in pain but not daring to make a sound,

Damon stood frozen. The pain in his cheek was nothing compared to the shock in his chest.

He stared at Victoria in disbelief, “Mom… what are you saying? My daughter… is dead? How’s that possible? Kaley just took her away, didn’t she? She took her abroad?”

Victoria pulled her hand away, tears streaming down her red eyes. “The hospital records, the cremation form, the funeral home staff-do you think all of them are lying?”

“Damon, look at what you’ve done! You killed your own child, and you drove away the woman who

loved you more than anything!”

Damon staggered. All sound faded from his ears.

He thought of Kaley begging him desperately in the delivery room, of her kneeling on the scorching ground outside the hospital entrance, of the hopeless look in her eyes when she last looked at him.

Those images flashed through his mind, each one stabbing him like a knife.

Gwen held her face and suddenly screamed, “Damon, say something! How is it that I killed your

daughter?”

“You approved everything in that delivery room! You told me to keep delivering, and you stopped

Dr. Wilson from taking over!”

“If I’m a killer, then you’re my accomplice! Why am I the only one to blame?”

Damon’s body jolted.

He dropped to the floor, clutching his head, his face twisted with pain.

Despair crashed over him like a tidal wave, swallowing him whole.

Victoria stared at Gwen, hatred burning in her eyes

“Guards!” She called toward the door.

The butler rushed in with several bodyguards.

“Throw this woman out! Throw her far away. Never let her come near us again!”

“Even if every other woman in the world dropped dead, the door of the Garner family would never

be opened to a vile, poisonous creature like you!”
