Ten Years of Love Ended in the Delivery Room Chapter 02

After Damon coaxed her gently for a long time, Gwen finally huffed and agreed to remove the stitches.

She still worked at a snail’s pace, the tip of the scissors poking at the thread without pulling it free.

The contractions grew more and more intense, and the baby inside me was desperately trying to push its way out.

When Gwen cut the last stitch, she purposely slipped the scissors and sliced deep into my flesh.

A searing, piercing pain instantly engulfed my entire body.

“Ah—!”

Blood mixed with discharge soaked the sheet beneath me.

Dr. Wilson broke into a cold sweat and rushed forward to take over. “Mr. Garner, let me do this! Dr. Strait is too inexperienced. If we don’t stop this now, we’re going to lose them both!”

Damon looked displeased and held up a hand to stop Dr. Wilson. “Stay out of this. Let Gwen continue; she needs the practice.”

Dr. Wilson fell silent, her eyes filled with panic.

Seeing Damon’s firm stance, she muttered helplessly, “What a tragedy… If we act now, we might still save the baby…”

At the same time, I felt the baby’s movements growing weaker.

Tears poured down my face as I begged Damon with my last strength. “Damon, please save me… save our baby…”

“Please, get another doctor. I’ll do anything if our baby is born safely.”

“I’m willing to divorce you. I’ll walk away with nothing… not the house, not a penny. The baby is yours. And I promise, you will never, ever see me again…”

At the mention of divorce, a flash of panic crossed Damon’s eyes.

He leaned down and stroked my head, his voice resigned, “Honey, don’t talk nonsense. We love each other so much, why would we ever get divorced?”

“Besides, our baby is going to be born just fine. You just need to trust Gwen and stop picking on her.”

I shook my head frantically, my face already drenched in tears. The pain was so unbearable that I couldn’t even speak.

Just then, Damon’s phone rang.

He glanced at the screen and left without a word. “I need to take this call. Gwen’s in charge here. None of you are to interfere.”

The door closed, cutting off my last hope.

Gwen grinned triumphantly and checked my birth canal. Seeing the baby’s head was already visible, she suddenly reached out and pushed the baby back inside!

I gathered all my strength and slapped her hard. “Gwen, if anything happens to my child or me, I’ll make you pay with your life!”

She shrieked and glared at me furiously, “It’s not my fault you can’t give birth! How dare you hit me?”

“You want to have a baby so badly? Fine, I’ll let you have it!”

With that, she slammed the emerging baby back inside again.

The baby was forced back again and again. Blood began gushing from my lower body in torrents.

The pain was so intense I trembled all over, nearly passing out.

Desperate to save my child, I found sudden strength and grabbed a pair of scissors nearby to threaten Gwen into stopping.

Before I could touch her, she screamed in terror, “Damon, help! Kaley is trying to kill me!”

In an instant, Damon stepped in front of her and snatched the scissors away.

He looked at me as if he wanted to devour me. “Kaley Neeson, throwing a tantrum is one thing, but now you’re trying to commit murder?”

I collapsed onto the bed, exhausted, and felt the baby was nearly motionless.

I clung to his shirt and sobbed, “Damon, if you don’t get another doctor now, you’ll be the one who kills our baby!”

Damon glanced at Gwen, his expression wavering.

But Gwen’s cries quickly distracted him. “Damon, my hand is bleeding! Will I never be able to work as a doctor again? I’m so scared!”

He picked her up anxiously and comforted her. “No, no, you won’t. I will never let anything happen to your hands.”

He then ordered his men, “What are you waiting for? Call every doctor in the hospital to treat Gwen at once!”

He never looked at me again.

Without his order, no doctor dared to take over my case.

Before I blacked out, I heard Dr. Wilson shouting in anger, “How is the mother doing? That Dr. Strait is absolutely ridiculous—the blood on her hands is clearly the patient’s, yet she insists it’s her own!”

“Now the whole hospital is running around in circles for her. What about the patient?”

The next second came Dr. Wilson’s terrified voice. “Hurry! The mother is hemorrhaging! Emergency C-section, now!”

Despair shattered the last of my false bravado. I finally surrendered to the darkness.
