Our heats were climbing. 

And right when Evander was about to take things further, I pulled back with a huge grin. 

“Wow. Didn’t know you were that generous. Totally 

cool with sharing me, huh?” 

“I was just messing with you before.” 

“But since you’re so sincere about not minding, guess 

I’ll go give Caleb a call. Work out the details.” 

I made a show of reaching for my phone on the 

nightstand. 

The next second, the world spun. 

He flipped us and had me pinned under him in a 

heartbeat, my wrists locked above my head. 

“No!” He bit the word out. Pure fury. 

“Cressida, you have already taken my body. You have to love me! All the way!” 

“From now on, I’m your one and only!” 

“You are never getting rid of me to be with someone 

else! Never! Or I’ll…” 

“You’ll what?” 

“I’ll die right in front of you!” 

Wow. What a terrifying threat. 

With that, his face was flushed. He looked like one 

giant, overripe tomato. 

I burst out laughing. 

Then I wrapped my arms around his neck and spoke softly, my breath warm against his ear. 

“You dummy. I’m not that generous. Not interested in juggling multiple people.” 

“From the start, all I ever wanted was to hear you say 

1. it. That you like me.” 

My eyes crinkled up as I met his gaze. Those blue eyes 

of his, all dazed and lost. 

It took Evander a moment to process what I meant. 

And then his smile just kept growing. Wider and wider. 

He buried his face in the crook of my neck, asking again and again as if he couldn’t believe it. 

“So it is just me, right?” 

“From start to finish. Only me. Right?” 

He kept rubbing against me as he spoke, like a happy 

little dog wagging its tail. 

“Maybe.” I grinned. Just to mess with him. 

“What? Say it, say you like me! You only like me!” 

He tightened his arms around me, holding me so 

firmly it felt airtight. 

“Evander… you’re poking me…” 

He made a soft sound of complaint but didn’t loosen 

his grip at all. 

“I’m hot… help me…” 

“Then what do you want?” I leaned in close, my voice dropping to a coaxing whisper. 

His voice turned low and hoarse. “I want…”
