Taming the Stubborn Alpha: His Tears Were Fake, But His Love Was Real Chapter 09

Evander’s ears were red as he kept nuzzling against my 

neck. 

I shoved him back and flipped us over in one move- 

me on top, him underneath. Then I leaned in close, 

right next to his ear. 

“Don’t even try to deny it. I heard you. You said you like 

me.” I smiled smugly. 

The man beneath me had completely overheated. His 

face was red all the way to his ears. 

Finally, he gritted his teeth and snapped. 

“Yes, I like you. So what?” 

“I’ve liked you for so long, and you’re the one throwing 

me away!” 

“And now you are even talking about divorce!” 

“I’ll never forgive you. Never!” 

He was full–on crying and shouting, staring at me like I was some deadbeat who’d hit it and quit it. 

A wicked little impulse came over me. 

I leaned down and kissed the corner of his lips, and when he chased after it, I pinned him down again, my tone deliberately light. 

“It’s not like I wanted to abandon you. But what can I 

say? I met that lion, and he’s actually kinda my type…” 

“Cressida!” He cut me off. 

His eyes were burning with rage, like a firestorm was 

about to erupt. 

And then, after a long beat, all the fight just drained out 

of him. 

He collapsed back against the pillows, hands covering 

his eyes. 

His voice turned rough and hoarse. 

“If… if you really do like him…” 

He paused, as if making a life or death decision. 

“Fine. He can be your boyfriend. But I’m your only 

husband. Got it?” 

…Wait. What? 

I went completely still. 

I knew exactly how possessive Evander was. I never expected him to say something like that. 

When I didn’t say anything, his face went even darker. 

“What?! I said he could join and you’re still not 

happy?” 

“What more do you want?! You want him to take my spot?” 

“Cressida, don’t you dare push it!” 

His brows were tightly furrowed, as if he had been deeply humiliated. 

A moment later, when I still didn’t answer, he clenched his teeth so hard it looked like he might break them. 

“Then… then I’ll be the second one. I’ll be second!” 

His tone had completely collapsed into defeat. 

I was utterly shocked. I felt like I’d just heard sounds 

from another dimension. 

The comments were going crazy. 

[What? Dude’s a lost cause.] 

[What even is this? A possessive, insecure, lovesick guy?] 

[Where do I sign up for one of these? Asking for a 

friend.] 

I was holding in my laugh so hard my face was flushed. 

But in Evander’s eyes, that expression seemed like 

excitement. 

He gave a bitter laugh. “So you got what you wanted?” 

“You really do like him that much, don’t you—” 

I didn’t let him finish. Just leaned down and kissed that endlessly running mouth of his shut.
