Six Years As His Luna. He Only Wanted My Sister Chapter 08

Three days after my death.

Cyrus went to see Damian.

Damian didn’t make him wait long.

Only two people in the council chamber.

Damian asked first,

“Are you here for Maeve’s truth, or for your own guilt?”

Cyrus said low,

“Both.”

“I let the Sinclairs force her into a second bond.”

“If I’d confirmed it myself, she wouldn’t have died.”

“Don’t bury what the Sinclairs did.”

Damian put a scroll on the table.

“When Lucian fell, his Beta fled into the forest with the scrolls.”

“He was caught recently.”

“The scrolls were with him.”

He looked at Cyrus.

“I only found out yesterday.”

“Six years ago, Alexander didn’t have you bond with Maeve by accident.”

Cyrus opened the envelope.

Lila’s handwriting.

Six years ago.

Cyrus was preparing to clear the Black Forest border.

Everyone knew.

He might not come back.

Lila didn’t want to gamble her life on him.

So she quietly approached the most favored heir in the North-Lucian.

She wanted to be his mate.

But she didn’t want to cut off the Thorne family as a fallback.

So she asked Lucian in the letter.

Find a way for Alexander to publicly push-

for her younger sister, Maeve Sinclair, to take her place and become Cyrus’s mate.

The letter said plainly,

“Maeve is soft.”

“She obeys our parents.”

“Make her Luna. It calms the Thornes and causes no trouble.”

Cyrus read those lines three times.

But it didn’t end there.

Damian handed over an old investigation file.

“Alexander later thought Lucian was too eager about your bond.”

“So he looked into Maeve privately.”

The file said,

Before the ceremony, she sold her mother’s old moonstone.

Mortgaged her small territory.

Donated the money anonymously to the Thorne forest patrol relief fund.

For the injured rangers from that project.

She wasn’t Cyrus’s mate yet.

No one even knew she’d decided to do it.

But Alexander found out.

He didn’t change the ceremony.

Maeve, he thought, was better for Cyrus than Lila, who wanted out.

Lucian was removed from succession for disloyalty.

Damian became King.

Only now did those scrolls resurface.

Damian said,

“Lila didn’t wait six years for you.”

“She was waiting for the day her wrong bet stopped being investigated.”

The parchment in Cyrus’s hand crumpled.

“Can I take these?”

Damian asked,

“You want to confront her?”

Cyrus looked up. Eyes bloodshot.

“Not confront.”

“I want her to admit it. To my face.”

Damian didn’t nod right away.

After a long silence, he asked,

“Lila lied to you for six years.”

“Maeve stayed with you for six years.”

“You really never once knew which one deserved you?”

Cyrus was silent for a long time.

Then,

“It’s not that I never knew.”

“Every time I saw it clearly, I chose to pretend I didn’t.”

“Because if Maeve mattered more, then the love I held onto for years was wrong from the start.”

Damian finally gave him the materials.

Before he left, Damian added one more thing.

After Lucian fell, Lila contacted his Beta. Told him to burn every letter.

Paid a large sum through middlemen.

She thought it was all gone.

Six years later, not one letter missing. All back in front of her.

Cyrus stared at the line, “causes no trouble.”

Finally understood.

What killed me was never just the white ribbon.

Six years ago, when they first pushed me into that ceremony, they’d already decided-

I wouldn’t fight back.
