Six Years As His Luna. He Only Wanted My Sister Chapter 05

The healer arrived. Checked my breathing first. Then my pulse.

Then slowly pulled his hand back.

“No vital signs.”

Kane’s arms tightened around me.

The Sinclair servants who had ridden with the carriage tried to run away.

Kane’s men pinned them in place.

“Get the elders and the arbiters.”

“Seal the scene.”

“The carriage, the ribbon, the scarf-no one touches anything.”

The Sinclair steward hurried forward.

“Sir.”

“Maeve had a fever for days.”

“She might have-on the road-”

Kane lifted the red ribbon still tangled around me with his folding knife.

“Does sickness require binding her hands?”

“Does sickness require gagging her?”

The steward’s face went white. He had nothing to say.

Then Cyrus’s Beta arrived.

He came to check on Maeve.

He stepped out. Saw her hand limp in Kane’s arm. Blood on her wrist.

His face changed. He ran.

On the other side.

The banquet at the Thorne estate had already begun.

The lights were blinding.

Lila wore a red gown.

Cyrus stood beside her.

The host was about to have them exchange moonstones.

The aide rushed in from outside, knocking over a chair.

“Alpha.”

“Maeve is in trouble.”

Cyrus turned.

“What?”

The aide’s voice shook.

“She was bound and put in a carriage.”

“By the time she reached Kane’s, she had no breath left.”

The moonstone box fell from Cyrus’s hand.

“Say that again.”

The aide lowered his head.

“Maeve is dead.”

“Her hands were bound behind her back. A scarf was stuffed in her mouth.”

“A ribbon was cinched around her chest!”

“Kane has already called the elders.”

“Initial judgment-she was sent there by force.”

Lila grabbed Cyrus’s arm at once.

“Cyrus.”

“Today is our banquet.”

“Let the elders handle Maeve’s side.”

“She’s already gone. What will rushing over there change?”

But Cyrus’s eyes were full of rage.

“How did she die?”

Lila’s eyes flickered.

“Father was only afraid she’d run on the way.”

“No one wanted to hurt her.”

Cyrus stared at her.

“You knew she was bound?”

“I only thought she was throwing another fit.”

“Cyrus, every guest is watching.”

“If you leave now, how am I supposed to be Luna?”

Cyrus pulled his arm free.

“It won’t change that she’s dead.”

“At least now I see what kind of female stands beside me.”

He stepped over the fallen flowers and walked out.

Lila chased him to the door.

“Cyrus!”

He didn’t look back.

Only left one sentence.

“If Maeve is really dead, you will not be Luna.”

Cyrus reached Kane’s home. I was already on a stone.

The elders hadn’t let anyone move me.

He walked closer, step by step. Then stumbled.

He reached my side. Knelt down.

First touched my neck. Then gripped my wrist hard.

“Maeve.”

“Don’t do this.”

He pressed my hand to his face.

“Didn’t you say you’d give me an answer in seven days?”

“Today is the seventh day.”

My hand had already started to grow cold.

He still wouldn’t let go.

“I’m here.”

“Open your eyes. Tell me your answer.”

The healer said quietly,

“Alpha. Please accept our condolences.”

“Chest bound too long. Mouth blocked. She suffocated.”

“She must have struggled for a long time.”

“Found too late.”

Cyrus’s eyes fell on the bloody marks on my wrist.

He reached to lift me.

Kane blocked him.

“The scene isn’t secured. No one touches her yet.”

Cyrus raised his head slowly.

“Move.”

Kane stared at him.

“The Sinclairs will say she died of a sudden illness.”

“Until the findings are out, no one gets to bury the truth for her.”

Cyrus’s voice was hoarse.

“She is my mate.”

Kane looked at him coldly.

“The dissolution scroll-you made her press her handprint.”

“The second mate-you arranged for her.”

“While she was alive, you pushed her to me.”

“Now that she’s dead, you remember she’s your mate?”

After a long time, Cyrus asked,

“In the carriage-did she call for help?”

The maid from my carriage sat nearby.

Hearing the question, she trembled all over.

“She kept slamming into the door.”

“At first, it was loud.”

“Then softer and softer.”

“Then… no sound at all.”

Cyrus’s hand stopped midair.

So what the Sinclairs called “come around” wasn’t me agreeing.

It was them gagging my mouth.

And the man he’d sent to confirm had still been one step too late.

All of this-he caused it.

He was the one who killed me.
