She Used My Face to Catch Her Online Boyfriend, Then I Became His Chapter 10

She Used My Face to Catch Her Online Boyfriend, Then I Became His Chapter 10

I’d been all talk yesterday.

I couldn’t skip my classes — I dragged myself to class.

Kyle had managed to take two days off.

He was waiting at the hotel.

As soon as I got to class, I heard Janice mutter, “Staying out all night. Shameless.”

“I explained it to the RA.”

I took two steps back and stared at her.

“Go on. How am I shameless?”

There was something weird about the way she looked at me.

My roommate in the front row turned around.

“Janice, don’t be so sensitive. What business is it of yours what they do?”

“Didn’t you just meet your boyfriend yesterday?” another roommate added.

“Let’s be understanding.”

Janice choked, then remembered something and perked up.

“Of course! My man treats me so well.”

Then she switched gears and gave me a tentative smile.

“Brianna, I’m sorry. Please don’t be mad.”

The roommate said, “Well, she admitted she was wrong. Don’t hold it against her too much. We’re all living together.”

I know they meant well.

I let it go.

Janice smiled even wider.

After class, I got two messages.

Kyle: “Class over, babe? I’ll pick you up for lunch.”

And my sister Penny Wilson: “Sis, I’m here.”

Penny’s my younger sister.

She studies abroad and doesn’t come home often.

She sent a voice message, voice cracking.

“I meant to come for your birthday, so I booked a flight at midnight on the 6th. I waited all day on the 6th, watching 11:59 turn into the 7th. Had to change my flight, so I just got here.”

……

I told Kyle and went to meet her at the east gate.

She’d gotten a buzz cut, wore a studded leather jacket in the heat, and insisted it was cool.

I didn’t get it.

I just saw the sweat dripping.

I took her to the dining hall.

One bite of sausages and tears were streaming down her face.

“This is what food should taste like. The dining hall food abroad is inedible.”

No wonder she’d lost so much weight.

I gave her another bite.

She kept eyeing other dishes, chopsticks never stopping.

She opened her mouth and ate off my chopsticks.

Familiar flash.

I looked over.

Janice was fumbling with her phone, looking guilty.

“Are you taking pictures of me again?” I was shocked.

She waved her hands.

“Just a reflex. I really didn’t mean to.”

She was being very cooperative.

She opened her camera roll for me to check.

I let her go, half doubtful.

My sister hadn’t said a word the whole time.

Just stood there stoically in her leather jacket.

“Can you just take that off?”

“No.”

She said seriously, “I didn’t think it’d be this hot. I’m wearing a pink SpongeBob tank top underneath. No way I’m taking it off.”

“……”

Fine.
